Moving House. No new phone/broadband service required

I am moving into a relatives house shortly. I contacted Talk Talk to cancel my service but they repeatedly state that I will be charged until my new provider contacts them to cancel my existing service. I won't have a new provider as my relative aready has a service but I can't seem to get that across to Talk Talk despite trying several times. Are they legally entitled to continue billing me despite my cancelling the service?

If you are out of your minimum contract period then you still have to give 30 days notice.
If you were moving to another broadband provider (via one touch switch aka OTS) they would waive the 30 days notice, but in your case I think you will have to give it.

There is an address to write to on that page, so you could write a letter giving notice, to avoid any unhelpful customer support staff.

In addition to the above, if you're still in minimum term then you'll be due to pay for the remainder of the contract minus (I think) the VAT.

Thanks for your replies. I am out of contract. Courtesy of the conveyancing process I was not able to give 30 days notice but appreciate that is reasonable. I'll just have to wait and see what happens after 30 days is up.
