New Capita-run Civil Service Pension Scheme - problems (what a surprise!)
Comments
-
week before last I spoke to the pensions people from my old work and they said they had a meeting with Capita on the Friday after I spoke, also sent an email to my MP who has taken this up and asked questions with various people in the house.
I did have what looks like a generic email from Capita saying that all outstanding ABS will be issued by end of October ( anyone else had this ?) but nothing about quotes which were requested in February.

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.0 -
I'd like to meet Mr Vianello, I've got some magic beans he might be interested in.

I had the email about October ABS. It was definitely generic, although I assumed it had only been sent to those still waiting for their ABS - I could be wrong though.
I didn’t like the line which said ‘If we cannot produce your ABS, we will work with your employer to confirm the next steps.’.
If there is an ABS from 24/25, why would they not be able to produce one for 25/26? Of course, the answer may simply be UTTER INCOMPETENCE!

Statement regarding the National Audit Office review of Civil Service Pension Scheme administration.
Perhaps the Cabinet Office's own independent audit (due out shortly) has raised concerns?

The 24/25 ABS was a simple copy of the orginal MyCSP data put in a different format. Even if the original 2025 ABS was incorrect and a member queried it, any updates will not have been reflected in the Capita-produced 2025 ABS.
The 25/26 ABS was produced using a one-off supply of data from employers, as Capita has not been able to run the usual monthly interface between employers and the administrator. That will have necessitated a more manual process than would be usual, as the data would have been loaded, and then manipulated to add a year of CARE accrual to alpha, and update the final salary schemes with latest salary. Any variation to normal processes will increase risk of error and omission.
It seems that 90% have now been sent out which is surprisingly high given the circumstances.

Given the scale and ongoing nature of the problems, it isn't at all surprising that NAO would choose this as an area to investigate.
I doubt anything in particular has prompted that.

Despite the official assurances of progress, this forum doesn't seem to reflect the stats. We've had one post saying payment was made and all the rest are of continued delays.
We seem to be the unlucky minority with complications in pension progress and ABS receipt.
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have none at all.

There is an interesting question posed in the WhatDoTheyKnow site.
Definition of "workable stock" in civil service Pension scheme.
"(c) what checks Cabinet Office carried out on the accuracy of this claim by Capita before it was reported to Parliament".

Jacqueline Spatcher strikes again. Good for her. FWIW the Cabinet Office has refused to answer her recent questions on the grounds that it would be too expensive.
