New Capita-run Civil Service Pension Scheme - problems (what a surprise!)

I worked for the Civil Service for three decades, meaning I have a mixture of a Classic and Alpha pension. I left the Service a few years ago to take another job. I turned 60 last March, thinking I would then retire.

I requested a quotation in early January 2026 but have heard nothing so am still working.

Telephone calls have got me nowhere, so I assume I'm in the queue that's being processed at 2,000 cases a week.

I'm sure I'm not alone when I consider that this whole sorry debacle has proved a great diappointment after so many years of loyal service.

I've raised a number of "cases" only to be told these are not "disputes" - despite the content of the case being a complaint.

Retired in March - still nowhere near getting any resolution.

Good job I'm not waiting for the money as such.

What really galls me is that if this was a private company or pension scheme the government would be wading in full steam to sort it all out - but us poor civil servants get short shrift.

Hi all. Just let everyone know. The portal is still down for maintenance!!! Been down since Friday.
I’m in the same boat as all of you. Retired January got my quotes in December 25. Sent them all back, raised 8 complaints, sent a complaint with print outs of all complaints sent via the portal to the Ombudsman. The address I sent it to was Capita!! The whole thing is a joke.
I’ve had no money since January and have been living off savings and my wife’s wages. Put thus all down in the complaint and they just don’t care. Was told I could apply for a loan. I told them I don’t want I loan and just want my months they are holding illegally.
I don’t know what else to do. Don’t know if I am entitled to any benefits as I am not working due to Long Covid

In your position is be speaking to my MP and asking them to raise a stink with Capita on my behalf.

(I realise some MPs are better at looking after their constituents than others; my commiserations if you live in Clacton, for example )

the loans are interest free and paid back once you have been paid. It’s really just an advance payment, why not take advantage of it rather than suffer
