Not really true. You'd have to pay an uplift to extend beyond their (very low) limit of 701 -
I am not aware of any packaged account travel insurance which covers you beyond 79. Worth checking with the providers whether they offer extension covers at a fee.But have a careful look at the cover you get - - - when I last checked, the max all of them covered by default was £5k. With today's prices, your holday may well cost above £5K, even if you go for shorthaul vacations. You might get a better deal with specialist travel insurance companies such as Staysure. You can get tremendous cashback deals for these via e.g. TopCashback, or your tour operator might offer a 20-50% discount if you take out the travel insurance through them.Just don't skimp on travel insurance. You might need it.2

Try Total Travel Protection .

Think of it like being offered the loan of an umbrella, but only when the sun shines and the weather forecast is forOldgittravel said:
As my wife and I approach 80 it's time to look at travel/holiday Insurance to take us into our ninth decade. To this end I thought it might be time to move to a Packaged Current Account. If I google for this I get all sorts of stuff leading down blind alleys. Any deals I can find seem to end at age 80. Any pearls of wisdom?.Packaged Current Account Travel Insurance for over 80s.
"dry all month"
You should have realised by now, they only ever want to sell you insurance when the odds state there is only a small chance they will ever need to pay out on it.

I think there was an age limit of 70 before the cover was switched to Aviva. There is no longer an age limit but, as with all insurance you need to declare (and pay for) pre-existing medical conditions etc.friolento said:TadleyBaggie said:There is no age limit with the Nationwide FlexPlus travel insurance.

Nationwide FlexPlus travel insurance seems to be the best (only?) option. Thanks, particularly to friolento and TadleyBaggie. I expected the need to declare (and pay for) pre-existing medical conditions, which we both have.1

I am sure you know, but just to clarify it is £5k per person per trip, so £10k per couple travelling togetherfriolento said:(...)But have a careful look at the cover you get - - - when I last checked, the max all of them covered by default was £5k. I stand corrected. This is a very positive move by NationwideBue21 said:

The monthly fee for the account went up by £5.50 to £18/month (almost a 50% hike), so not entirely good news.friolento said:
