Thank you all for your comments - it looks like You Tube is the way to go.
Anyone know when the BBC posts the link ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Why? If the church hall wants to show live TV they can pay for a license. Don't see why that is ludicrous to have to pay to use a service.brewerdave said:Another thread that shows how ludicrous the current situation is with regards the TV Licence!0 -
https://www.gov.uk/showing-films-in-public know it says "films" but it applies to TV too
Rather than it showing how ludicrous TV licensing is it much more shows the morals of a church if it intends to do anything other than follow the laws of the land0 -
What I dont like about TV licensing is their approach that they have a list of any addresses that dont have a license and assume you are guilty. They expect you to prove your innocence. That not how the law works. And then the way they opperate in practice trying to trick people. I once saw a TV licensing officer going down a street peering in people windows.Totally wrong!0

I'm not sure how else they could go about their work without starting with a list of unlicensed addresses.mistyface said:What I dont like about TV licensing is their approach that they have a list of any addresses that dont have a license and assume you are guilty. Your other issues with BBC/TV Licensing are more a question of things that people might assume based on misleading or incomplete communications from TVL. They sort of imply guilt but that's not the same as requiring proof of innocence, which you do not have to give them (in fact you do not have to answer any of their questions). I'm not sure what you mean by tricking people - there is an issue that people's rights are not fully explained and therefore may not be fully observed, but they claim that because they are not Police they do not have to.
They are not allowed to look through the windows of people's homes, and anything gleaned from doing so would be legally inadmissible.

As long as the person who is logged into iPlayer has a license you will be perfectly fine0

Not for a broadcast to a significant number of random people... same as pubs, cinemas, shops etc that want to have a TV on or play music, they need an extra licence. If theyll get caught on Christmas Day is another matter however surely the church doesnt teach that sinning is ok as long as you get away with itGrubbyGirl_2 said:As long as the person who is logged into iPlayer has a license you will be perfectly fine0 -
So you would be happy to pay ~ £180 to watch ~ 10 minutes of TV ? I certainly wouldn't !jon81uk said:

So would your decision be to break the law or simply not watch the TV? Especially given we are not talking about a private individual but a religious organisation/charitybrewerdave said:

Just to add another layer of complexity, if you show the broadcast on a battery powered device (e.g. a laptop thats not plugged in) then your own home TV licence will cover you (assuming you have one). Plug the laptop in, or use any mains powered device, and you need a new licence for the building. Madness.1
