Tell your sister-in-law that there's very few 'get rich quick' schemes - and almost certainly none on Facebook.
Although there are a lot of 'get poor quick' schemes on Facebook !

Going back to the original post about Whisky ' investments'
It used to be quite common round here for independent publicans to have barrels of whisky in the Bond, which they would draw on when need be, a couple even had their own label, sold only in their own pub.
One chap was not particularly well liked due to the way he spoke to customers, I think you can guess who's cask had the biggest Angel's Share.

You lock in your rate so you avoid price rises... But what about falls?

I also (dis)like their "buyback guarantee" where they promise to buy your bars back at the spot price if you want to sell in future.
They don't seem to mention that they're selling them to you at ~ 2x the spot price in the first place …

Isn't it the responsibility of the buyer to check if they are getting a good deal?

Gold jewellery will depend where you buy it and if it's new or not. Clearly any retail shop selling stuff at less that the cost of raw materials isnt going to be in business for very long but there is a massive difference in the price of an item bought brand new at H Samuels and a secondhand item bought at auction. With the later the premium may be very modest.

No, hindsight of something that happened to appreciate doesnt' make it a good investment. By that logic you could say Bitcoin, as long as bought on x date and sold on y date was a great investment.
Investment decisions (should be) are evaluated based on the information and risk that could have been or predicted at the time, not on hindsight.
No, I wouldn't class small amounts of jewellery lilkely to never be sold, cost moneyto melt down before the gold value is unlocked, and weren't bought with any anticipation of appreication as investments, good or otherwise.

As I said up thread, most of my jewellery was bought in India and Sri Lanka where workmanship is much cheaper than here.
But... please let us get back to discussing whisky investment as per the thread title.
Someone (not me) introduced the subject of gold.
