Router and voip

I have just purchased an tp-link mr6500v with Telephony port and sim port.
I intend to get voip with port forwarding and I am looking at about 30gb per month data sim on monthly basis.
Do I need a data only sim or can I use any sim only? I can't seem to find a deal on data only but I can find a few sim only deals.

I'm not an expert on this stuff. I would have thought any sim would be ok, but maybe best to check the Ts&Cs re tethering / using in router.
Re data only sims, I have read elsewhere about good deals from scan.com bought from amazon, e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DH4Z9DGD offers 50GB per month for a £74.99 one-off payment until mid 2027, so that's just over £4/month.
Of course you should check that the signal for the network used (three/vodafone in that case) is good enough for your purposes before spending a big chunk of money. And I think technically that's a business sim, so I guess consumer protections wouldn't apply, but from what I've read they don't check that you are actually a business.0 -
Any SIM will work; Ofcom changed their rules a few years ago and telcos aren't allowed to limit what device you use their SIM in.N. Hampshire, he/him.
