Last time I rang around, I later found this site were cheaper and the same national tyre network fitted them. You just pay and book a time to have it done:

LOL that wouldn't have worked at all for me, I had one day to get my tyre done ready for the MOT retest the next day, and in that one day I also had to work.........no-one else would've come out to me when they said they would, sorted it while I carried on working AND do more for free, oh and give me £10 of vouchers for another time :D

It's easy enough to whip out the spare, unless you have a crappy space saver or don't keep a decent spare.

More and more new vehicles are coming even without that much

My 57 plate car doesn't have a spare wheel.........it has a tyre repair kit and I've read the manual three times and still wouldn't know where to begin

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.

If you check your tyres regulary then you'll know how much tred you have left so you can shop around for the best deal, and saves you failing the mot

LOL didn't have a spare, and even if I had, I wouldn't have been able to undo the locking wheel nut anyway

I guess checking condition of tyres is more important if you don't have a spare. As for locking wheel nuts a key should be with the car, but I guess it is the sort of small thing that would probably end up lost.

Do car manufacturers genuinely believe no-one needs a spare these days? Seems lazy and cheap to me.

If this happens to your tyre, a can of goo and inflator isn't going to get you back on the road again... If you end up with a shredded tyre like this, AFAIK road rescue people won't cover you unless you have a spare, but I presume they'd be able to do something and charge for the privelige.

Cover shall not include the following:

    4. Any costs incurred as a result of you failing to carry a serviceable spare tyre and wheel, or incurred in arranging the removal of a wheel secured by locking wheel nuts when you are unable to provide a serviceable key, appropriate to your vehicle, caravan or trailer.

Please note: Motorised vehicles that are manufactured without the provision of a spare wheel will be considered on their individual merits. Assistance in changing a wheel is covered, subject to you carrying a serviceable spare as specified above.

OOOOO not me, no WAY, I know exactly where it is if I use it........................as I said in a previous post, it was Kwikfit that had last fiddled with the car to sort the brakes............the next day when e-tyres came out to me, it wasn't in the designated pocket in the pouch where I always keep it, and wasn't anywhere in the boot either!!!

  • I buy Eagle F1 GSDs which are numerous performance test winners and they cost £45 per wheel fitted.

Tom - That's a great price for an excellent tyre. My set of 4 will need replacing sometime soon - where do you get them so cheap?
  • beware etyres, good prices, terrible service, but you get what you pay for i guess, ordered tyres on 17th december, had a date for them to be fitted, but fitter never turned up, did eventually a week after christmas and lots of phone calls. Fitted different tyres to those orderd and now says he can't change them because they've been used.. (although etyres say they are the same tyres.....) if they are the same, why would they have differnt model numbers..... go to your local dealer and have the job done in 30 mins or wait over 3 weeks.... not much of a choice really, i know where i'll be going in future....
