Sky stream vs sky Q and HD/UHD

Hi bit of advice pls. I’ve tried googling but get inundated with unhelpful ads or articles plagued with pop ups
considering getting sky , primarily to watch premier league football so want sky sports and bt sport (tnt sport as it now calls itself)
costed up on sky website and to get both with sky stream is about 60 a month , with sky Q it’s about 75 a month
I understand the basics of each but what I can’t find a straight answer to is ;
- can you ‘record’ live footy with sky stream ; I understand it’s not got a hard drive but can I ‘+’ something specifically a live footy game on sky or tnt in advance and then start watching it, fast forward pause rewind etc at my leisure at any time (even while it’s part way through) …. In essence is sky stream record / playback functionality broadly similar to sky Q ?
- does sky sports come in HD as standard with sky Q? TNT clearly states it’s HD but can’t find info on whether sky sports is HD (sky in fact offer HD as an upgrade and separately ultra HD but sky sports is not mentioned in the what’s included blurb)
- assuming sky sports comes in HD as standard does HD tv on sky Q include sound in Dolby 5.1 (or better)
- on sky stream you can upgrade to ultra HD; is this worth it when pretty much only watching footy? Like is the footy broadcast in ultra HD or is it only movies and stuff ?
thanks

Streaming live programmes and no recording as doesn't have a hard drive.
Can you get Sky Q now?
Sky Q can record but live sports I don't know as I have never tried it.
Sports HD should be included now as standard but worth checking and UHD can be added free for 3 or 4 months then cancel it.0 -

I'd always go for Sky Q with a dish, if you're internet goes down you lose your TV.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time1 -
We previously had Sky Glass and we didn't like it at all, it didn't save to a hard drive so say you wanted to record one episode of East Enders for example, you would stream it but it would add ALL the episodes to the planner so you then had to try and find the episode you wanted. At least with non-stream variety you can just record the one you want to watch.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

I know my smart TV can record ordinary TV to a usb memory stick just wondering if something on a Sky system can be got onto a TV's usb memory?
Sorry if a red herring.0 -
Hi thanks for the comments I appreciate the fundamental differences between the streaming box and the sky q box im just trying to verify some specific things ;
- is it possible on the sky stream box to in essence ‘record’ live sports and watch them either after they have started and/or after they’ve finished. For example the live football that’s shown on Amazon prime you can start at any time, pause it, fast forward and rewind - can you do this with sky stream content ?
- does sky sports come in HD as standard ; I can’t determine if the HD upgrades are for entertainment content only or are also required to get sports in HD
- what sound format is HD sports broadcast in ?
- are any sports shown in UHD or would that be a waste of time for someone who only watches football

A new subscriber to Sky Sports gets HD included.
I've been watching F1 in UHD and at the same time, footy was on another SPORTS channel in UHD. Think you need the 2GB Q box for the HDR content and more sound options.
Just a comment on cost - if you can still get Sky Q ?(not sure if still available for newbies) , then the basic cost for Sky Signature with HD plus Sports is over £80 on Q not ~£751 -
You will need to check what box you get as Sky are only doing 1tb for Q and I am not sure if the 2tb is available and if yes what is the extra cost.brewerdave said:A new subscriber to Sky Sports gets HD included.

2TB boxes seem to still be available if you can trust the T&C's at the end as they're mentioned multiple times. If you have a non-HDR 2TB box it claims that you can upgrade to a HDR capable 2TB box for an additional £50.Boohoo said:

£50 is lot just to hire/loan and upgraded box that may not be brand new to start with though.
Might not mean much to some people but if you take multiscreen the HDR is not available on the mini boxes but only on the main box if you take/pay for Ultra HD pack.0
