If you have a google account it should be as simple as putting your a/c details into the new phone.

Turn on the new Moto G85 and go through the setup screens until it asks whether you want to copy data. If you've been trying the G85 you may need to fully reset to get the out-of-box process. Choose “Copy apps and data”.

When it asks how you want to copy, pick “Using a cable”. This puts the new phone into a mode that listens for a direct USB connection.

Connect both phones with a USB-C to USB-C cable. The G7 Power uses USB-C as well, so the same cable works.

On the old G7 Power, you will see a pop-up asking whether to allow data transfer. Tap “Allow”. Android blocks USB access by default for security, so this confirmation is essential.

The new phone will then ask for the Google account password for the account on the G7. This verifies that the person doing the transfer is actually the owner.

You will then be given a list of what can be copied: apps, messages, photos, contacts and so on. For most people, copying everything is the easiest route.

As above, it's all pretty straight forward. You'll then spend the next week assuring every app, especially the banking ones, that it is actually you using a new device.

I would expect your new phone to walk you through the process, mine did when I moved from one Motorola phone to another, and that was 2 years ago.

It has installed the bare bones of all of the apps - but not logins/passwords

That's the expected behaviour. One of the benefits of a password manager is it'll sync all the passwords from the vault and making logging in again less painful.

The way I do it is this:

    I go to:

settings / accounts and back up

and back up to Samsung cloud

On my new phone I then do the same and restore from Samsung cloud

as above you will have to re-sign into most of the apps
