If you mainly listen to BBC stations I would suggest switching to the BBC Sounds app with Bluetooth. I did this about 8 years ago and would hate to go back to DAB.

I can see it's advantages and use it myself a lot, but sometimes you just want a standalone DAB radio.

Why? In 8 years I've never once felt the need.

Why fire up two boxes and do fiddling when one button on one box will do the job?

Ever tried to watch a live sports event on TV with a radio commentary? The streamed version is often 30-60 seconds behind the live action.

It's very little effort and hugely better. I don't listen to much live radio anymore - I have a choice of which program I listen too. If I do listen to a live stream I can rewind it - commonly to the beginning of the program. Some DAB  radios support rewinding, but not to before the radio was turned-on. I can download programmes over WiFi and listen anywhere, without the need to use data and without relying on a signal.

I do all this too, but not at 6:30am when all I want is Radio 4 and my coffee, single button for each.

Could I ask how you decided it was the power adapter rather than the radio which is faulty.

I have similar issue and have no other pieces of equipment that the power adapter fits, to check that way.
    Good question.

    1) The radio has a rechargeable battery and was still working on battery power.

    2) I tested the adapter with my multi meter. It was not producing any power.

The new adapter (£12 with free delivery) arrived today, less than 24 hours after placing the order.

It works fine and appears to be well made although of course I cannot see the internals.

A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

That would cost me a lot more than £12 for a new power adapter.

The radio sits on a cabinet beside our bed. I mainly listen to BBC Radio Five, Times Radio and Classic FM.

It also has a useful clock and alarm function.

I am happy with DAB and this particular radio for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for that, unfortunately my model does not have battery power.

Would never have thought to suspect power lead as it has been plugged in behind a cabinet for years and never moved.

I have got a electrician coming later in the week will ask him to check it then, or failing that buy a multimeter like has been suggested.Although I had hoped my days of buying tools were gone.

This ..... Replacement power adapter ..... should be fine....
That model does not appear to have inline protector on the output cable which may be why it is considerably cheaper.
