Replacement Power Adapter for Pure Evoke D4 DAB radio

The power adapter for my Pure Evoke D4 DAB radio has failed. It tripped the circuit breaker in the consumer unit last night and is now dead.

I cannot find a Pure branded replacement and Pure are not answering the phone. 01923 623000. Are they still trading?

I have searched on eBay, Amazon and Google for a replacement adapter. There are plenty of unbranded and unknown (to me) brands available. They all appear to be of Chinese origin. Many of the sellers have a lot of worrying negative feedback.

Here is one search I did.

Are either of these two items below likely to be safe to buy?

I am very nervous about buying an adapter of unknown origin and safety. I have read too many stories of poor quality and unsafe electronics causing fires and deaths. I would rather buy a new radio than take a risk.

Any suggestions of how to source a safe replacement?

Thanks

Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

John Lewis is still selling Pure radios so it's likely they're still operating.  They might be able to help.

Currys sell Pure as well but I've never found them particularly helpful.

    Pure - Joyful Listening

    Support is messaging/e-mail it seems.

You'll need EXACT model Evoke and / or size of jack for the PSU if seeking a generic -- Places like CPC Farnell may be more reputable than some eBay/Amazon sellers?
  • Pure are still going strong (unlike my TWO Pocket DAB radios)

Could try their online enquiry form

I've two of their original Evoke-1 DAB radios, still going strong. In fact the only bit that causes some concern is the power supplies, which throw enough heat to make other room heating unnecessary.

I needed a similar power cord for a Sony radio.  Amazon had what I needed and its worked for years with no issues.

On the PURE website, there is a spare parts section. Is the power supply on there ?

Thanks all. I did contact Pure. They responded as below. I have ordered that adapter. Hopefully it will be ok.

    Thank you for your email.

We understand that you want to purchase a replacement adapter for your Evoke D4, and we will be happy to assist.

At the moment, this adapter is not in stock on our PURE website. However, some customers have been successful in purchasing from a third-party retailer. For your convenience, here is a link to one of the available listings:

Please note that, as this is a third-party option, PURE cannot guarantee availability or full compatibility. We recommend double-checking the specifications before purchase.

We hope this helps, and please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Best regards,

Could I ask how you decided it was the power adapter rather than the radio which is faulty.

I have similar issue and have no other pieces of equipment that the power adapter fits, to check that way.

Not OP, but I would check with a multimeter - they are really handy bits of kit if you don't have one - less than £20 at Toolstation for a budget version.
