Does anyone use Fuel Cards for personal use, not just business?

  • I’ve seen those ads too lately. I’ve not personally used a diesel fuel card, but a couple of people at work have and they seem handy for tracking spend and getting small discounts. From what I gather, they can be worth it if you drive a lot, but maybe not so much for occasional use. Be interested to hear others’ real world experience as well.
  • Have you considered a credit card purely for fuel use? Find one with a decent cashback or reward options and it might be better than a fuel card.

So I’ve checked, and there isn’t an Esso station anywhere near me But there is a local petrol station that is consistently cheaper than the supermarkets. So I guess a lot of it comes down to geography as much as anything else

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

4p/litre is better than you'll get with most (any?) reward credit cards.
My son has a fuel card that he got free after signing up with Motorsport UK and completing his marshall training. I think it only discounts 2p/litre but there's no fee.

The problem with that is if the petrol station you have to buy from is consistently 2, 3 or 4p more expensive than the cheapest alternative. If there's a good fuel card that will consistently give you savings, than that's fine obviously. I think that card gives you 0.5p off at Tesco.

An Esso card from a company called Wex, which gives me 4p per litre discount. You normally have to buy the card, but you can get it free if you have a blue light card.

The receipt given at the garage is a full-price one, then 3-5 days later I get an amended receipt emailed to me and the money is taken from my bank account.
Thats cool, yeah I ended up signing up to The Diesel Club card? Was £29.99 for a year but seems to have a lot of coverage. Where did you sign up to wex, I cant find one for personal use on google?

I Googled it and it came straight up.  I've sent it to my daughter - it's free to join plus she drives a petrol car and will still get a discount.  It'll beat the supermarket where she normally fills up by a couple of pence so every little helps as they say.

The OP is very likely to be here to promote his card following on so quickly from the trail of a previous spam attempt ;)
