Multiple characters missing when entering registration number

Hello,

Sorry for starting a new thread but I've read the Newbies thread and am unsure how to continue.

My wife paid for parking at a hotel when Park Maven operate the car park but she missed entering two characters out of the seven characters of the correct registration number. She has received a Notice To Keeper stating that there was no valid parking session.

I believe that BPA rules stipulate that upon appeal the fine would only be cancelled if she had omitted only one character and that Park Maven may still ask her to pay £20 upon appeal since she had omitted more than one character.

My question is - should we accept that and pay the likely £20 reduced fine or is there a template that I could use to get the whole PCN cancelled? We haven't started any appeal as of yet.

Many thanks

    Just ignore ParkMaven.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD
  • There is no "fine" it's just an invoice, and what ever they say about this add on scam the hotel had a vehicle on it's premises driven by a bona-fide customer what did the hotel say when you complained that their parking contractors equipment probably failed and they are now harassing one of their customers?

    Thanks for the replies.

My wife stays at the hotel regularly for work and normally has no issues paying for parking so we can only assume that she didn't notice that she had keyed in the registration number incorrectly.

I haven't contacted the hotel - I was planning on using the Park Maven appeals process but wasn't sure which angle to use when lodging the appeal.

They will reject the appeal,  but any appeal would be about full payment being made by the driver and the faulty machine,  so shift the onus of proof and blame onto the operator,  Parkmaven

Parkmaven and the other private parking companies are never going to add complaining to their list of options,  we are  !

Plan A is always the best option,  complaining about the pcn to the business or landlord or landowner ASAP,  in this case to the hotel,  as an aggrieved regular customer,  the fault is probably the machine,  not the person

If full payment for parking was made,  get angry,  not meek and not appealing,  but complaining,  like this successful case

Your wife paid for a service, a room with car parking why is she also expected to jump to the tune of some two bit scamming parking company contracted by the very business she is giving her custom to.
They in effect expect her to put herself out, navigating some additional hardware/ software that may or may not work correctly, just to make life easy for some crummy parking company that is hoping she makes a mistake, misunderstands, forgets, or doesn't comply so they can make money for doing nothing.
The hotel got its just demands end of story, in a fair system the hotel would take ownership ask for the VRN and sort it out as part of the booking, if it goes wrong the appeal should be accepted and the charge cancelled, but greed takes over and they hide behind contracts.
The only contract that should exist is between the hotel and guest like it used to be before the parking scammers industry bolted this rubbish sham on the side, and landowners went for it.
If the hotel don't call off their dogs I would not be staying again personally!
