Dental work in Bangkok?

Your insurance may require you to contact them before you arrange treatment. They may have an arrangement with particular ones.
If they are paying they will decide whether the filling comes under an emergency or can wait.0 -
I'd have thought there's a reasonable chance that the cost of simply replacing a filling would be quite low in Bangkok, quite possibly less than your travel insurance excess. I've never needed any medical assistance in Thailand but I did get a CT scan in Vietnam that cost about $100, significantly cheaper than a private scan would be here.Presumably you are staying somewhere in Bangkok, I'd ask the hotel/guest house/hostel if they can suggest a dentist then ask the dentist for a treatment quote.1

Would there be value involving the travel insurance regardless?SiliconChip said:I'd have thought there's a reasonable chance that the cost of simply replacing a filling would be quite low in Bangkok, quite possibly less than your travel insurance excess.
The initial treatment might seem very straightforward but in the event that the work required increases, at least the insurance can't hold the OP responsible.
Even a basic filling can increase in scope - I was quite injured as a child when having a filling because the dentist slipped and drilled my cheek.1 -
If you want to get an idea of costs in Bangkok, you can look at the BIDC website here: https://bangkokdentalcenter.com/fees/Lj_likestosave said:Does anyone have experience visiting a dentist in Bangkok? I'm travelling and have insurance (Genki) but would like to know experieneces!
Insurance won't be much good, unless you have No Excess policy, as the cost of a filling isn't likely to exceed £40.

How much is a CT scan in UK? I paid just over £200 in Thailand.SiliconChip said:I'd have thought there's a reasonable chance that the cost of simply replacing a filling would be quite low in Bangkok, quite possibly less than your travel insurance excess. I've just looked at my Rough Guide to Thailand book. It recommends the Bumrungrad International Hospital: https://maps.app.goo.gl/UMX6yyfv1ri6DhMC8?g_st=ipc
Apparently it has a dental clinic.
The book also recommends Siam Family Dental clinic: https://maps.app.goo.gl/3KF5VN3hkJAYxpa4A?g_st=ipc
Hope that helps.1 -
I've had a front tooth white filling re-done while in Bangkok a few years ago. It was less than half the price of NHS work and a much better match.Done by Bangkok Smile...they have half a dozen branches around Bangkok. I now go there for cleaning every now and then.1

But, when you do your insurance and the first question is ...'are you travelling for medical procedures?' .... what do you say? 😉*j* said:I've had a front tooth white filling re-done while in Bangkok a few years ago.
