I know it's probably cheaper, but aside from the face medical advice is banned have you considered what happens if your procedure goes wrong? Are you going to be able to go back to the Bangkok dentist or will you be falling on NHS dentistry /medical care UK private dentistry.

I presumed they had a dental issue that needs resolving now so if it’s something straightforwards like a filling, why would they need to return to Bangkok for further treatment?
    Perhaps the OP could clarify?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Presumably it's something more "cosmetic" in nature so veneers, replacing dentures with implants etc that would typically be only in the scope of private dentistry and therefore likely to be cheaper overseas.
  • Travelling to Bangkok just for dental procedure? I'd be very surprised but let the OP confirm.

Needing a procedure/treatment while travelling I'd be guided by the insurance policy's coverage/limits. Bangkok has a population of 10M +, there will be dentists available at every price point.

Maybe try Reddit for suggestions, subreddits such as r/Bangkok and r/ThailandTourism might be helpful.

Tripadvisor can sometimes have useful stuff on their Thailand forum.

I would check very carefully that the insurance policy covers medical/dental procedures abroad unless advised to do so by a doctor or dentist.

I presume the OP means "travelling" as in they are currently globetrotting, not planning a special journey just for dentistry. So perhaps the question is where better/worse would they consider to get their teeth attended to?

Can you confirm, are you already travelling and need some urgent dental work undertaken, for which you understand your travel insurance policy that you have will meet the costs?

OR, are you planning to travel with a specific intention to get the dental work undertaken?  I understand that it is often the case that travel insurance will not cover such treatment or the outcomes should any follow-on treatments be required caused by the planned treatment.
  • thanks for all your comments so far! To clarify:
I am already in Bangkok, and will be here another month or so. I have an old filling that's starting to feel bothersome and I think probably needs replacing - I realise I haven't had a general dentist check-up in a few years so there might be other things that need doing (but nothing cosmetic). My insurance covers 'necessary' dental care, e.g. a filling. My main concern is finding a good dentist and I just wondered if anyone had experience of places in BKK!
  • You might get lucky here but I'd think that your efforts at finding specific recommendations for dentists in Bangkok might be better expended on Bangkok-specific sites rather than a UK-focussed money-saving site.

No local contacts who might help?
