How can I get help for my business startup ( For unemployed)

hi everyone
I lost my job, months ago (A very experienced, Microsoft cloud software develoeper)  (1) Starting an online business. A Customer management software I built from scratch, still at infancy stage

All jobs I have been applying for, say I am over qualified or declining me, saying I wont stay. (2) I have now applied for Uber (taxi) lic and now behind in my bills. Initial council, medical, insurance costs are a lot, but taxi gives me the flexibility to juggle the two. I tried startuploans.co.uk who said, they dont offer loans to ideas that are legacy ie a hairdresser cant apply for hairdressing startups etc etc

Is there any help for unemployed struggling bloke, with both a business idea, I am seeking a loan or investment to pay off my taxi registeration costs. JSA wont get involved

I have a car on finance costing £9,300,  and a number of expensive gagdets at home, I dont want to pawn. But need assistance and happy to show a summary or demo if I can find assistance

please keep it polite, many thanks
Ed

Business ideas? No not really... if someone has a great idea they will generally try and do it themselves rather than give them away to others.

What do you actually need the funds for? Not sure anyone is going to "invest" in a taxi business assuming you are meaning you just getting on the Uber app. Similarly investors generally want the funds to be used on something like paying for a developer or marketing budget etc and often won't lend/invest simply to pay the founder whilst the business grows.

A personal loan is generally easier to get than a business loan unless the business has assets the debt can be secured on. You will typically need a business plan and convince the lenders that it's realistic. With no cashflows to date thats a very big ask. Generally lenders also want to see you have your own skin in the game so say you are investing £100k of your savings and need a £30k loan just to get the last bit done. If they are the only ones putting the money they'll be worried you'll give up too easily when the idea doesnt work as you're not losing anything yourself.

FIrstly you are jumping the gun. I am not trying to give away my business ideas, In simple terms, I am stuck and just looking on how I can get assistance to get my uber lic, while I juggle both uber and working on my business at infancy stage.

    I am out of funds.

Lastly I dont intend to divulge any ideas, I just want to show I am serious, hence happy to disclose who I am and the vast amount of work and seriousness or commitments I have put into it.

Not everyone is a fraudstar, I have a history of posting in this forum and apparently not seeking anything more. Personally I am not discouraged, as even the greatest of successful people, have had tough times too.

     Many thanks

On the first point I may have misunderstood... thought you wanted help to get an idea for a business which is why I replied people won't just give you an idea. Seems as if you also misunderstood my post too.

Wasnt suggesting you were a fraudster but most giving money to fledgling businesses arent a charity and do so with the intent of making a profit. The reality is the majority of new businesses fail in the first three years and that doesnt consider all those business ideas that never get funding to launch in the first place. This is the reality of the gamble that people are considering when deciding if to give you money or not which is why its an uphill struggle to get money unless you can tap into ESG type considerations where there may be charities etc providing support for those with ideas to support their sector.

Very few fail because the founder was fraudulent, much more because they got their numbers wrong

Selling the expensive gadgets would seem to be the way to go here.

    Hi Ed,
Sorry you’re going through this — it sounds really tough. Investors and startup lenders usually won’t cover living costs or taxi-licensing fees, which is why you’re hitting walls. A personal loan is normally easier at this stage since your software is still early-stage with no revenue yet. You could also speak to Citizens Advice or StepChange to check if there’s any support you’re missing. Getting the Uber licence sorted might give you some income stability while you keep building your product.

Good luck — hope things turn around soon.
