IDMobile credit checks

Has anyone tried to get a deal with IDMobile which is initially accepted for Credit and then fails to give you the credit on the handset?
I have found that they cannot tell you why they have a marker against you and will not give credit after saying they would. I then checked Equifax and my credit rating is perfect. There is no person that can be talked to so an explanation can be given. I also believe that this could have an impact on my credit rating with no explanation from the Company that appears to have the issue!
Their customer service is pretty unhelpful and I feel that this could have an impact on people

Unless you find something on your various credit files then you'll never know why ID Mobile will not accept you for credit.
There may not be a marker at all, you just did not meet their criteria but they have no obligation to tell you why they refused you.
Unless you are an old member and have re-registered with a new username you really need to do a bit more research on how fictional credit scoring and credit reports in general work.1 -
Very unusual for any company that turns you down for credit to give you the precise reason(s). Their internal processes have said "No" and they don't want to make those processes public since this might lead to people "gaming" the system.
Check that your credit reports (not your "rating") are showing your data correctly (on Electoral Register, no outstanding accounts at utilities, no CCJs etc).
What impact on your credit rating are you fearing? Get a few hard searches done in a short period of time just before asking for a mortgage then maybe, otherwise I wouldn't be concerned.0 -
I dont have a concern over my credit rating, but I am concerned as to the refusal! All my data was showing correctly with no issues.
I have now tried to get a new handset via ee who I have my broadband with. They have also declined me. I have never been refused any loan, credit or anything else in my life. I am mortgage free and have a good wage..... I personally believe that I am now being impacted.0 -

Who or what do you think is impacting your inability to get credit?
One search and being declined certainly will not.
Do you currently have any credit agreements?
How much is your borrowing compared to your income?0 -
Will try to check all CRAs and CIFAS.Ayr_Rage said:

My last credit agreement ran out about 2 months ago.
I have no borrowing but use a credit card now and again for credit rating purposes.
Thanks for the advice0 -
It sounds very much like that as you are not using credit regularly then you have very little history and that is probably why you have been refused.0

Thats what I was thinking but I totally forgot that I have a 10yr loan on my solar panels. I would think that it would be enough to keep me within a tolerance of checks if thats what you would call it.0

It's nothing personal, and no lender will tell you what criteria you've failed on. As long as there's no obvious black marks on your credit files, there's not a lot else to be concerned about. If you can't get credit for a handset, the obvious solution is to buy one outright and get a Sim-Only deal - which will probably save you money overall anyway.

As an example Three want £1301 for an iPhone 17 Pro Max 256GB on contract. Its RRP is £1199, and Apple even offer 24 month interest free credit if you really wanted to borrow money for a phone.
If you use Three the cheapest plan you can get (for 24 months) is 5GB for £16 a month which is pathetic. You can get a 5GB SIM with ASDA on a 12 months contract for £4.90 a month. So all in you're about £368.40 worse off for buying it on contract vs outright (or with 24 months 0% finance via Apple.)0
