ULEZ unfair charges

A lot of people falling into the trap of "it's in the T&Cs which you agreed to, so tough luck."
Not necessarily. If a company put "No refunds, even if the item is faulty" in the T&Cs and made you tick a box to say you agree to be bound by it, would it be legally enforceable?
Advice such as "take ownership of your mistake" is an unhelpful moral argument, not a legal one.Find the exact clauses in the T&Cs and see if they're compatible with the Consumer Rights Act 2015. It's possible that autopay is a "layer above" the legislation that requires payment and subject to consumer laws as it involves agreement to T&Cs, rather than the legalities of penalty charges in the ULEZ (although I may be wrong, so check through the legislation as well).1 -
If you move house you give a final reading and inform the electricity company, gas company and the council to stop payments on that day and the direct debits are cancelled. If you sell a car you have to cancel any automatic payments, how on earth do you think TFL or any other operator would know that you no longer are the keeper, they only get keeper details from the DVLA to issue a fine on a by event basis. This is your error no one else’s, just because the new owner tried to register the VRN why would TFL put any effort into researching that, their system would not link to anyone it would just reject it.Yes they are an annoying bunch of intransigent always in the right Muppets, and they could have made a good will gesture, they didn't, that's up to them, but they don't have any liability for this at all.3

Yes I wasn't aware of the need to deregister but don't wait 2 months until I get an email from them saying I owe £300. Surely the system could inform me after a week or day if my car went through ULEZ0

No point if you are registered for auto payments....iceangel8 said:Yes I wasn't aware of the need to deregister but don't wait 2 months until I get an email from them saying I owe £300. Surely the system could inform me after a week or day if my car went through ULEZ3
