Good morning all from Mehefinland
Biting cold north east wind here but dry currently. Took pity on Showman and popped a rug on him this morning ( had the mud shower last night cleaning him off in preparation ) . Absolutely no chance of putting one on Fairy - you would take your life in your hands- she is a tough native anyway so doesn't really need one. Showman doesn't get such a thick winter coat so he isn't so weatherproof!!
had a delivery of shavings yesterday and the driver wouldn't bring his van in the field because it had been raining!! I ended up wheelbarrowing 20 bales plus feed across to the barn - got some steps in that's for sure.
Good news!! Had the results back from the colonscopy polyps - all benign
may have to go back in 3 years for another checkup .
The saga of the Glaucoma clinic tomorrow. Had a Phone call from the health authority telling me I had been discharged into the care of an optician and that I should get a call from them in due course. Then got a letter confirming it. but no indication of the optician ( why I can't use my own is anyone's guess!!). Then I get an appointment letter from the hospital clinic ( same authority but in a different place). Organise friend for transport etc. etc. Then a voice message from an optician in the same town saying they have discharged you to us and please make an appointment. Rang them back and explained about the current appointment and that I was intending to go to it so please cancel me off your list. Agreed. A further voice mail whilst I was in the middle of singing on Saturday to say their optician still wants to see me!! Rang them Monday to go through it again as this chap wants to do exactly what the hospital clinic will do on Thursday - so I refused saying that it was just silly and a waste of time/resources if I was being attended to at the hospital. Currently , I shall attend clinic tomorrow and try and sort it out there. The best of it is, that my optician retired suddenly and without warning recently, and I have had to re-register with another, whom it turns out does work for the Glaucoma clinic at the hospital. I will try to get discharged to their care as it is literally 5 minutes away and will save a trek into town, and cadging lifts from various people as it is on the bus route too. I am not allowed to drive if they put dilating drops in, which means having to get alternative transport - which is not always that easy. Anyway I shall find out more tomorrow.. I think the problem lies in that I live on the boundary of 2 health authorities and although there is crossover it doesn't always follow a logical path. Rant over lol.
Hugs and spoons as always - keep warm and active. and hurry up and get better you poodles( if you can)

Morning all, it's pretty damn cold right now, The weather app says it's five which is not too bad but then it adds, real feel, -2....and having gone out to check on some stuff, I can confirm, it does indeed feel like brass monkeys. Today I have docs and I recklessly booked to see a film tonight, now I just have to remember to go...[I'd forgotten until I saw my emails just now] Looks like today is going to be a house day, it's sleeting so nothing outside unless it stops. I exchanged the gravel in the step yesterday for some nicer colour gravel from other parts of the garden, put the old stuff on those click together things in front of the shed, so at least that job is jobbed and bought wood for the next step, very nice bloke, cut the pieces to size for me too. I thought about getting them made with cement and stuff, but then, making them with sleepers and filling with leftover blocks was quicker and nicer looking. They won't shift anywhere, they're very solid, and the gravel knits so it's easy to walk on. And they're quite large, so no tippy toeing across tiny mean steps. I might look at my fabric to make some temporary door curtains though. With the ceiling not being finished, the cold in the ex kitchen is seeping in the rest of downstairs and i don't like it
dp1, good to hear she's improved a little bit. Scarlet, nice to see you, glad you're both over it. SO, are you still walking and talking? not in this weather though obviously...Ruby, great news about Matt..and just because you'e notseeing him, there's no reason not to see his mother o whoever...I often think about friends and getting older and I am always remineded about Greek people, that they increase their friend circle as they get older, not decrease...which is not to say you're old, just saying....Coxy, good to hear your first day went well
Gers, same in my sisters house and I do worry about her getting the coal in. camelot, you too, don't go gallivanting if it's raining again! Izzy, hope it doesn't get too snowy for you...Conversely, i hope it gets very snowy for me, just on my house please
Right, away with me, to the jobs! Take care all....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11 -
Morning allChilly down here in Kent and pouring with rain too. At least it's not the white stuff!Just hoovered, dusted and cleaned the upstairs bathroom and having a hot coffee. Will do a bit of ironing later and that's me for today.Enjoyed watching Scotland playing the football last night. What a finish!! Congrats to all the Scots on here
Hugs to the poorlies and all the ones recovering. Have a good day all xx11 -
Thanks for starting us off today @Scarlet, I'm glad to hear you and the Mr are feeling much better now and that you're up to posting again. These winter bugs seem to be everywhere.
It's a snowy good morning from here. The white stuff must have arrived in the early hours and, although the roads and pavements are clear now, it's still lying on the grass, cars that haven't moved yet and house roofs. I doubt it will disappear soon either; temperatures are set to be 3 or 4 deg but feeling in the low minuses - all day! We did have blue sky earlier but it's looking somewhat leaden now.
I popped out yesterday for the few bits and pieces I needed and got caught in the rain that felt like ice but managed to miss the worst of it as it was much heavier later in the day. A YS pack of fruit teacakes may have fallen into my basket and I had one toasted when I got back home while I thawed out. No gallivanting anywhere today though, it's much too cold.
Nothing exciting planned for the day, just the usual housework and pottering. For tea I'm having a lemon & pepper dusted fish fillet with some fried slices of LO potato and mushy peas. A quick glance of the TV guide hasn't sparked anything of interest for tonight so I'll be watching something from my watch list instead.
@Ruby - Good news on the funding for Matt's residential placement, I'm sure you'll soon find alternative work.
@TA - Wrap up warm for that Skipton trip! And good luck with the stocking filler trawl.
@mehefin - Your glaucoma saga beggars belief - it's worthy of a sitcom! Good news on the colonoscopy results though.
Have a good day all, stay safe - and warm! Gentle hugs where needed (especially dp1's LO). XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Ruby, great news for Matt and his family, and good luck for the job search.
Gers, I have one of those 2 in 1 duvets, but it's getting a bit flat & gappy, so bought another feather & down duvet from Asda last year as an extra layer. I haven't put them all together yet, but think it will be very cosy when I do! I'm a snuggler with my duvet, I tuck it around my front, back and right up to my nose & ears so look a bit like a bug in a rug! 😂2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Hi everyone,
Mehefin, good news on the biopsies. I feel your pain on the hospital front. We live just over the border from Cambridgeshire and if at all possible get referred to Addenbrookes for treatment but things aren't at all joined up. Addenbrookes asks for blood tests which are done in Bedfordshire but don't get sent on without us jumping through hoops.
Scarlet, I'm glad you feel well enough to post again.
dp1, I'm pleased LO is feeling a bit better. We're going through it with Esther, she ran, jumped and climbed around a bouncy castle place on Saturday afternoon but then went downhill that evening. Laura took her to a drop in centre on Sunday and she has a chest infection. She's been spiking really high temps, over 40 degrees but hopefully she is on the mend now.
Yesterday was a red letter day, we got all the boxes of books from the loft and put them back on the shelves, we haven't seen them since March 2022 just before the family moved in. There are far fewer of them now, I read mostly on my kindle so I have donated most of my novels. I have kept a lot of children's books, hopefully one of the grandchildren will get into them, my two never did. I have a full set of Chalet School books, plus additional fill-ins written by other authors. Others I've kept are the Greene Knowe books, Narnia books, Monica Edwards Romney Marsh series, the Katy books and Anne of Green Gables. Oh and I musn't forget the Little house books because I named Laura after the author.
Have a good day.

Snoozer you just inspired me to post - I loved the Chalet School books and always wanted to go there! I didn't own any of the books but I remember one of the librarians got them all sent from a bigger library for me.
Same with the Laura Ingalls Wilder, I bought my own copies as an adult. I have my mams copies of the Katy books, Heidi and all the Little Women books., Sorry to hear Esther has been poorly too,
Little one has been a bit better today and has managed to eat a little bit and be off her feed during the day - DD was hopeful she might be back at school tomorrow, but then she starting retching again so she'll see in the morning. She's been playing with her toys today and generally a lot happier x8 -
dp1, I have been to the Tirol quite a few times and the site of the chalet was actually in a place called Pertisau on a beautiful turquoise lake called the Achensee. There really is a train up the mountain and a ferry round the lake and a path with a dripping rock. The first time I went the ferries were the original ones dating back to the early 20th century but they've been updated now, sadly. The train is still original though.
You should go on one of your trips with your daughter, it's well worth it.6 -
The dripping rock, I've walked the path a number of times.

@Floss - you might want to try one duvet under you and one on top. Then you can feel really cozy. It is supposed to keep you even warmer.6
