As a newbie to the forum, and to brewing, anyone got any suggestions as to quantities to use in wine-making? My first lot of red wine (from a kit) is in the airing cupboard and I'd like to make use of the vast quantity of rhubarb taking over the garden for my second!0

I've tried loads of packet mixes and recipes and have yet to find a really good one.
I no longer eat wheat but really miss a decent slice of bread.
Thanks

Hello Everyone!! First post so I am a little scared!! Well I got my free yeast from ASDA, she scuttled off and brought me 150g wrapped in a cookie bag:D
Please oh please can anybody give me a decent recipe as I have tried 3 different ones so far, and the results have been far from good, more like breeze blocks then nice fluffy bread!!!!
Thanks Everyone!!!:o0 -

Wish I could but my other half says we have to wait at least 6 weeks for any big buys, So I guess we will just have to emrace the heavy bread until then!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
First time I've posted so be gentle on me!
I've been bitten by the breadmaking bug and trotted off to Sainsbury where I was given half a bloc of free yeast by another customer (who was making a lardy cake!).
I froze most of it and it seems to work fine. But does anyone know how long I can keep using frozen yeast?0 -
And here's a really lovely simple bread recipe which produces something that my other half adores!
Tomato and Rosemary bread
500g plain white flour
approx 200ml of just boiled water
10 sun dried tomato halves
2 tsp sugar
2 tsp salt
Fresh rosemary from the garden
fresh yeast (approx 9g, but I think I could've used less!)
Pour just boiled water on the dried tomatoes to rehydrate and plump them. After 15 mins ish, add the yeast and sugar to activate the yeast. chop the rosemary into little pieces and add to the tomato liquid.
Mix all the above into the flour and salt, and knead for about 5-10 mins.
Put into loaf tin (a 2lb one)
Allow to rise, covered, in a warm place until dough peeks above the top of the tins.
Bake for 25 mins at GM6/ 200C0 -
Hi. Am new to this severe credit crunch stuff: hence loving this website and Martyn Lewis' advice. I love making pizza bases and always use bread mixes. Yesterday, I went to Asda and they did not have a small bread mix so bought dried yeast. Also looked on the site and saw yeast in freebies so went today to Tesco and asked man for fresh yeast. Got a good weight in a bag for free and no odd questions asked by him or at till. Might be a little saving but my pizza bases will be better, got it for free, and had two friendly chats with baker and person at till ! Thanks!0
