I owned Halifax shares from when they were floated but unfortunately sold them in late 1998. If it's of any use, at that point (Nov 1998) they were trading at £8 per share.
Unfortunate in terms of being able to answer OP perhaps, but fortunate financially for you, given what happened to them the following decade (and ever since)!

    Hi,

I've seen a few threads on this type of topic, but unfortunately nothing answers my query.

For Capital Gains Tax records, I need to know the share price for Halifax Group plc on 10 Feb 2000.

    • I've tried emailing archives@lloydsbanking.com (as suggested by AI)
    • I've tried Yahoo historical share prices but they have nothing for HFX (it's now LLOY bur wasn't in 2000)
    • I've tried the LSEG Historical Price service (Historical Price Service | London Stock Exchange) but this falls over when I get to the payment part - payment is instantly declined (too fast to check?) for two cards.

    Can anyone help?

Specifically does any one know if Historical Price Service | London Stock Exchange is a live and working service? Or if archives@lloydsbanking.com ever responds?

    Any other ideas most welcome!

    Thanks
    Steve
i held Halifax shares (from privatisation) and according to my records the end of day price on 10/02/2000 was 478.5p
Very impressive record keeping, puts my motley collection of spreadsheets and notes to shame.

Yes in hindsight very fortuitous but also validates my reason for selling to diversify away from single company shares
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Thanks all. I also found in the Halifax Group 2000 Annual Report evidence of a share price of 686.5p on 31 Dec 1999 (thanks @wmb194 ). I tried to get a rough idea of what this could be in Feb 2000 by taking the drop in share prices across other big retail banks BARC, LLOY, NWG and HSBC from 31/12/99 to 10/2/00 (17% drop on average) and applying to 681.5 (which gives 568.8p). @newatc reports 478.5p though. With genuine and all respect to @newatc for awesome record keeping I'm not sure I can use this as evidence if HMRC asked where I got the price from!
The Historical Price Service for LSEG is still down today - not convinced it's due to CloudFlare but don't know... Will hope comes back up
Reason I'm keen to get a clear answer is, as alluded to above, I've made a big loss on HFX -> HBOS -> LLOY over the years - so looking to use this loss to offset gains elsewhere...

I understand the need for info from a more official source.

Out of interest, the record keeping was done automatically by the software I used, Quicken, which recorded daily the low, high and end price. I still use the product but it no longer updates daily as support was removed many years ago but historic information is still there.
