VPN question

Thank you above, I think you misunderstood. I have not bought a vpn service, but I was asking about Nord because I was confused about their information.Their website talks about Nord not being compatible with some routers. This is what confused me. I thought it meant that I may not be able to use it with a certain router, but what it meant was installing a vpn into the router itself may not be viable, depending on the router make..
Anyway, having read all above I decided to start with a free one and give it a whizz. I installed Opera,as did one of the commenters, and it seems to be working fine and is easy to use. I am a technophobe in all honesty and if I can use it,then anyone can. Pleased with it so far0 -
Just curious to know: is Opera a browser,if not what is it? I get very confused with browsers etc0

Opera is a Browser, that has the option to enable a service that can make you appear, to the untrained eye, in another part of the world, rather than specific countries. Someone might use it gain access to a geo-blocked website or to bypass age verification set in a particular country. More of a Proxy service than a fully fledged VPN.Inforapennyinforapound said:Just curious to know: is Opera a browser,if not what is it? I get very confused with browsers etc
A fully fledged VPN can disguise more than just your location.1 -
1. The Browser, is your computers doorway on to the internet,
Opera is a Browser
Edge is a Browser
Firefox is a Browser
2. "True VPN" sets up a secure channel between your computer and the company that operates that VPN..
3. "Proxy Service" limitations, means it is not as secure as a "True VPN"1
