Apple replaced iTunes for Windows with Devices and Music last year. ITunes is now basically just podcasts and AudioBooks. It was replaced for Mac in 2019.oldernonethewiser said:

I managed to make and take a call by putting the speaker on.
Before that I couldn't hear my friend but she could hear me.
I'll work on that tomorrow.
But I need to be able to receive calls from my 90yr old neighbour and if I have a health issue. Car accident whatever.
Messages are ok.
I don't know where do not disturb is. Will look for that 🙂
The music is from my computer. In my last phone there was an SD card slot. Not on this. I have to downloaded iTunes and run it through that I understand. But that's not urgent.
Same with my contacts, they won't save to SIM so had to use iCloud.
Got to dash to a charity quiz in the torrential rain. Back later. Hopefully 😉
Phones haven't saved contacts to the SIM for many years.
To see Do Not Disturb, use a swipe down gesture from the top right of the screen.
Once you have the phone up and running on the latest software, called iOS 26, you can use any music file as a ringtone by highlighting it, press the share logo and tapping "Use as Ringtone"
ITunes was discontinued a while back, you should use the Apple Devices and Music app from the Microsoft store in your PC
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/itunes/itns5ecc4f3c/windowsTrue.It hasn't been discontinued, yet.

Only problem is that once you move to the new Devices and Music, you still need iTunes for podcasts but the phone will no longer connect to iTunes and so you can’t sync podcasts between iTunes and the phone.PHK said:

Does the “Podcasts” app not solve that? Not that I use it. I use Downcast. Have done for yearsMoney_Grabber13579 said:

Do you mean the podcasts app on the phone itself? I’ve never found that to be reliable, it keeps randomly deleting podcasts that I haven’t listened to or not marking them as played when I have so I keep them on my pc and then sync them across. That means if they do delete, I know which ones I have to add back on again.Desmond_Hume said:

I used an old kindle as a tablet for ages and managed to bypass using any Amazon . I'm sure there are ways with Apple too.
It offers too much for what I want and navigating round what they want v what the discerning 😉 customer wants is harrowing.
Thanks a lot.
The phone doesn't have a headphone port but if it helps anyone, Honor are deliberately keeping the headphone port in their phones and excellent easy to use phones.
For me it's just the size and weight. Not huge and good for using the net size.
I have an iPhone 13 mini as ‘normal size’ phones are too big for my hands.
I have one of these so I can listen to music on wired earbuds/headphonesApologies. Link seems to go via eBay US.1 -
Oh that's excellent Badger 🙂
I think I'll get one anyway.
I'm hoping to return the phone today for a refund as the speaker doesn't work. It can be replaced or refund.
I don't want all the hassle of going through iTunes and all the other stuff required to get it up and running.
Bought an android that has a headphone jack, SIM card slot etc so I can use my music as ringtone, alarm and such.
I can also choose from a variety of apps which the apple won't let me.
I'll get a dumb phone which are still done in 4g for daily use and take the big smart phone for the occasional identification needs etc.
This will still cost less than half the price of a second hand mini 😵💫I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I use my adapter quite a lot when travelling. Keep it in the case with earbuds (wired, not those things that look like fag ends hanging from your ears).Good luck with your replacement.1

Thanks for the laugh in all this 🙂
Like in the past when my grandfather kept and reused screws I keep tech oddments. I have a little plug for the headphone socket that allows the music to play through the speaker. A feature from the past.
But you never know what's coming next.
Honor have retained the headphone socket.
I reckon it's making tech work for you and not the other way around. My MP3 has a 72hr play time. The phone 😬
