Has anyone taken up Sky's 'Full Fibre at no extra cost' broadband offer, and if so, how'd it go?

Sky is offering me an appointment for an engineer to come over and upgrade me to Full Fibre 75 at no extra cost or changes to my existing contract, apparently.

It does sound quite enticing tbh, as I'm currently locked into a 24 m contract running until the 18th of November 2026, for Superfast 80 broadband (67mps but definitely not hitting those speeds).

These are my results from a wireless test on thinkbroadband.

Do you think it sounds too good to be true (they've tried calling me four times already!), or should I not question it too much? I guess my biggest worry is being lumped with a sudden price hike or contract extension (damn telecommunication companies). I want to switch to a company like Hyperoptic once this contract is up, so I don't want Sky to touch/install anything that might prevent that.

Thanks

Measuring over wireless isn't an indication of the delivered speed. Regarding the FTTP, Openreach offer incentives for ISP's to help them get people moved from copper, or it may be that t City Fibre is in your area and Sky want to move you to that. Either way, they will need to bring a new fibre connection into your property via some means, as would Hyperoptic or similar. The benefit of a an Openreach connection is that you have access to a wide range of ISP's to choose from.
  • I got upgraded to FTTP for no extra cost (with Plusnet) as did neighbour who was with BT.  They want people to move to digital and ditch copper analogue.

My is full fibre 100 mbs but some suppliers are offering 150 mbs, so I do not understand the 75.

It's pretty simple, Sky do offer a 75 Mbps full fibre product and that would be the nearest equivalent to the OP's current FTTC offering.

@orange-juice if you use the landline do check what Sky propose for that too.

    Thanks for all your input.

Yes, Cityfibre have done work on my street months back. We’ve also had guys come round to hook our building up to the network, separately.

I’ll reach out to them. Thanks again
