How to get rid of scratches inside the car

Recently bought a new car (Lexus UX) for £24k with 15,000 miles on it. Found some scratches inside the cabin wall along the driver side. Any idea how to get rid of them or improve their appearance with DIY.

Buy a new panel, or a used one without scratches.
They are from the seat belt buckle by the looks of it so likely to come back unless you are more careful than the previous owner.0 -
Thanks, not sure how only one side has seat belt buckle marks while passenger side looks completely fine. Its really annoying me since Its almost brand new car. any idea how much roughly the new panel will cost.matt_drummer said:Buy a new panel, or a used one without scratches.

You don't have to drive with a passenger!
I am nearly always alone in my car.
I don't know how much it would cost, a lot would be my guess.
I make models of varying types including plastic.
You could try a very fine wet and dry paper.
Use wet, make it finer by rubbing together before use. Go carefully and slowly. Try a small area first. You want almost no grit on the paper.
The plastic is very soft and the belt buckle will have shaved a small amount off the surface, I suspect it looks almost furry?
The bits look almost white and stick out like a sore thumb.
Then use a good quality interior finish to even out the `shine'

Maybe they didn't carry a passenger?
has the little pin that stops the buckle feeling down failed?
There are specialist vehicle trim "refurbishment" companies... ask at your local used car dealer.
or get it wrapped?

So a ~4yo used car, not a new one.Ezzbis2023 said:Recently bought a new car (Lexus UX) for £24k with 15,000 miles on it.Found some scratches inside the cabin wall along the driver side. Any idea how to get rid of them or improve their appearance with DIY.
Forget it. You'll only make it look worse.
Replace the panel, if it's important to you.
Were they not visible pre-purchase?0 -
Did not notice then when purchased, its 2 years old car. I have service due at Lexus soon maybe I'll ask then.0
