Ditch or stay with BT?

I activated yesterday.
About mid morning present went off so I unplugged old router and plugged Sky router in and nothing, waited an hour then turned all off at main socket, the lights began to come on Open Reach box followed by Sky router and BB was working.
Tried phone and no dial tone, dialled 17070 and Sky told me a number which was different to my old number.
after that I had a dial tone.
Did 17070 this morning again same wrong number so I,ve completed a web form to inform Sky of this and now await their response and correction.

For at least one of the times I've changed DSL suppliers, the previous supplier's router continued to work for the entire duration of my new contract!StevieD54 said:OK, the big day is here. My Sky hub was delivered last week, and while the instructions to connect everything up are clear, when to do this isn’t. It says: ‘Your hub won't start working until the date you see on the box - it can be any time up to midnight.’ That date is today, so do I connect it or wait until tomorrow? The BT hub is still working btw. Think I’ll leave it until this evening or until BT turn the signal off!N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Oh dear, I’ll be fuming if my landline number has been ‘interfered’ with. So what is 17070, a dedicated Sky thing? But your broadband worked ok 👍dnpark38 said:I activated yesterday.

Was it on the old provider or the new provider account?QrizB said:

17070 is a free number which they all use to give details of the phone number.StevieD54 said:

The old supplier closed my account, and the new supplier was taking payment on the new account.dnpark38 said:

They don't tend to be router dependant anymore so your old router may continue to work (although BT may want it back anyway). If you plug in the new Sky one you should find it's already working fine.StevieD54 said:OK, the big day is here. I knew this wouldn’t go smoothly 😂. So the phone line is working, great. The WiFi is working, great.
We have an oldish printer, the HP4620, but it does have WiFi and after some effort it’s now connected to the new Sky network. I usually print documents from my iPad but the printer is now no longer ‘seeing’ the iPad. It’s bizarre, they are both on the same network so I don’t know what’s going on. I’ve tried restarting everything but to no avail. However, I’ve just had a new iPhone so tried printing my document from that……and it worked 😂. But not from the iPad 😡.0 -
I haven't touched an Apple product in forever but try clearing the apps storage and then delete the app (if it's a user installed app), then redownload.StevieD54 said:I knew this wouldn’t go smoothly 😂. So the phone line is working, great. The WiFi is working, great.
