Leasing Advice please about disclosing pre reg before delivery.
A few months ago I placed an order for a car i liked , and a good deal on a 36 month lease on as they described In Stock at port delivery.
My car is due for delivery on Thursday by the suppling dealer.
I have to say that so far the leasing broker i have used has been exceptional.
They have kept me updated all the way through.
But and its a big but ive been provided the Registration today and ive checked it was registered on the 1st of September.
Now whilst I have no issue with the car or the finance to this point. I wasn't told it was pre registered, should I have been?
In fact most of my communication with the broker this week has been arranging delivery and them getting confirmation of the Reg.
I dont know if this should be an issue for me or not.
I was expecting a new car so this car is already almost months old and will need me to MOT it before its return as it will be month 38 not month 35 when its returned.
Will I need to service it 3 months early?
Should I have been told at the very start this was pre registered? Is my question and should I be making the broker aware?
What would be the advice ?
I just want to check really if I should have been told it was pre reg or not , and if its going to have any impact on me.

Why did you wait a “few” months before the car was delivered to you ?The car was new at point of order and will still be new when you get it. Enjoy leasing “your” new car.Mortgage free

Thanks , thats my point , if I ordered my new car on the 8th September , and the one being provided was registered on the 1st September .
My question is should this have been delivered earlier ? And should I have been made aware it was already registered.
Ive spent the last 5 weeks hiring a car for work because mine wasnt ready, when in fact it was ready all along. That's what's frustrating me .0 -
A few questions to get out the way:
1) I'm assuming the car has no previous keepers, ie the lease firm is the first keeper.
2) The car has only delivery mileage on it
With that being said, it seems they are horrendously inefficient if they have a car at the port (in stock) but it takes over 2 months to get it to a customer. Did you ask for it to commence on 13th Nov or is the 2+ months delay, their admin?1 -
I was simply advised ghere were issues at the port and they were at the mercy of the supplier.
I can forgive the time taken tbh and even the fact it is pre reg if it arrives tomorrow with just delivery mileage .
As this is my first time leasing I was really unsure about the pre reg situation and if I should have been made aware as it will take me over the MOT threshold as ive asked above .
Or if its ok to supply a car pre reg if its not been part of the agreement or in any of the documentation
Im sure I will be happy with it , if im not it will be noted to the broker.

"Pre-registered" is only an issue where the buyer is not the first registered keeper. As you won't be the RK, it's irrelevant.
It will be delivery mileage only.
You knew the car was in stock and at a UK port at the time of placing the order a few months go. Was this around September?
The question here is why it was in stock and ordered a few months ago, but only being delivered now. Was this your request?0 -
Importers register lots of vehicles on 1st September as it is new reg day. Whether it is registered 1 September or today the date of manufacture doesn't change and as you are leasing makes no difference to you as hirer.
I once looked at a newly registered vehicle with the latest reg, but it was actually 18 months old.0 -
Just seen the "issues at port".
It got bent. Look for the bodywork rectification that's taken the time...
About a third of all new vehicles have damage pre-delivery.0 -
Only thing to watch is servicing as normally to maintain any warranty etc the servicing requirement is from registration date, not when you take ownership.0

You are leasing (renting) the car so it will never be yours. Why then, would you be concerned that it is a pre-reg? It makes no difference to you.0

I think the concern is that if it's a 3 year lease and the car is already 3 months old, then OP will need to give it's it's 3 year service and first MOT before giving returning it.
Also if it's got a 3 year warranty (we don't know what car?) then it'll have expired for the last 3 months of the lease.3
