Parking fine using EV charger
FairnessFairy
I’ve been advised to start a new thread (newbie here!) In Fort William at a Premier Inn there was a fast charger showed up on my Charging App so we went to use. Saw no signage about any car park restrictions, genuinely. Then out of the blue got a letter from ParkMaven (?!) with £160 charge!!! I appealed with attached invoices for the charging via the Motability app - unfortunately, before I found this forum! I told them the owner is disabled - (he wasn’t driving, it was me but I didn’t say who was) - and that we’d charged then left. Also, unfortunately, his name and address were on the invoices so they have his details. I also mentioned that he was disabled. (Takes longer to do stuff like get in and out of car). They’ve said appeal rejected but as “a gesture of goodwill” it’s reduced to £10 if paid before 2 weeks time! It’s greatly reduced but he’s on disability and I’m on £83/week as his carer! It might seem not much to most, but is this a scam? What if all people who charge there just pay? Should I appeal or pay to get this off our plate? Any help appreciated, please! Thanks

But Fort William is is Scotland so why aren't you just ignoring it?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

They already had your details but the fact you appealed it surprised me. Nobody responds to private parking charges in Scotland. No need to take them seriously until the keeper liability law changes in a year.

The fact I’m here asking for advice probably demonstrates the fact that I’ve never had to deal with this before, so saying “no-one” does this is a moot point and also pretty condescending. I’m not sure why you’re choosing to respond just to belittle me. I’ve got enough crap to deal with, without being made to feel like an idiot for “even” appealing. I’m not Scottish and this was on holiday. I’m also not au fait with unscrupulous parking enforcers. Thanks for the signposting eventually though.Coupon-mad said:

Is the V5c log book registered to an English or Welsh address or a Scottish address ?
Is the disabled person's address in Scotland or England and Wales ?
The owner is Motability, not the disabled person !
The disabled person is the keeper of the vehicle and they will be shown as the Registered Keeper on the V5c log book ( but they are not the owner )1 -
Thanks for your reply. I’ve already replied to them during the appeal and confirmed the disabled person’s details. Motability had obviously provided his address. So they have all the details. They would surely just proceed against Motability who would then see him as liable and pass on the liability?Gr1pr said:Is the V5c log book registered to an English or Welsh address or a Scottish address ?

The disabled person is the keeper of the vehicle and they will be shown as the Registered Keeper on the V5c log book ( but they are not the owner )The offer to pay £10 to “cover admin” has now changed to pay £100 again!Has anyone been in this situation as a Motability client before? Your advice appreciated as it’s causing a great deal of stress to us both!Thank you.0 -
