Issues with terminating O2 airtime plan

Currently going round in circles with an O2 chat agent about cancelling my airtime plan. They keep saying I have to pay off my device plan in full as they're linked until February. I keep trying to tell them that this is not the case due to ofcom rules around the price increase but they don't seem to agree. Anyone else had this issue and did you manage to get it resolved?
