This happenned to me once, reserved a bratz doll for £4.99 in the clearance.
When I went to pick it up, they had sold it from the display shelf as nobody had thought to remove it !!
They said I could choose another doll ... I picked a £19.99 doll !! They let me have it for £4.99 !!
So was very happy!Debt Free Jan 2010!(Be happy) the state of your life is nothing more than the state of your mind! X:j0 -
Reserved a camera for over £300.
Wasn't there when I drove 35 miles to pay!!
Old computer system blamed.
Funnily enough I wasn't offered another camera at a similar price.0 -

A couple of years ago I reserved a PSP at a store about 30 miles from me and thought I had better phone up to check it was there as I couldn't believe there was stock a day or two after release. They said it was there so I drove 30 miles and when I arrived they took the payment and then couldn't find the item. I waited for over 45 minutes before someone told me that they had located it but it had been damaged and they couldn't sell it to me. I asked if i could have a look as I might take it anyway, it could just have been the box, they refused to let me see the item. After another half an hour of arguing that I had paid for the item and technically I owned it (actually it was bought on an Argos card, so maybe they did still own it) and wanted to inspect it they magically produced one completely in tact. Apparently they had just found this one behind some boxes.
It was so obvious they were trying to fob me off and keep it back for themselves. I wrote a letter to HO and just got some standard apology and not even a £5 voucher for my trouble.I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?0 -
my husband had a similar prob last year with currys, reserved the roboraptor when it was reduced to £19.99, husband went there to be told that it was out of stock, when he then argued with them (he is very good at this), but they would not let him have one. so he then phones customer services and gives them real ear ache, and 10 mins later he gets a call to say it had been found, when he went back to collect he heard someone say "but that is ****'s", so it was obviously a member of staff. i usually have no problems reserving stuff but am a little dubious now, and like to collect the same day as i get nervous of them selling it to someone else.

I've been waiting for a black ipod classic 80 gb to come into stock at any argos near me (I got an argos voucher for xmas). They finally appear to have come back into stock in a couple of stores near me in London and near where I live in Essex. I've reserved one at the new oxford street store and am getting a little worried as I've just checked again and it's showing either as 'unable to check stock', 'this item can be ordered for Friday xth' or 'this item is out of stock'! The status changes every time I hit the refresh button or go back to the beginning to try it again just to check. The store is open until 7.30pm so I'm going to go after work, if it's a wasted journey I'm going to be pretty annoyed as I've been waiting what feels like AGES for this to come into stock...
**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

why dont you pick up a phone, call the store and "talk" to someone instead of moaning about how annoyed you will be? :rolleyes:0 -

lets say for example we have 5 ipods in stock. when you check on stock checker in store, it will say 5 availale.
along comes joe blogs and reserves an ipod. now when you check the stock levels on stock checker, it will say 4 available. this is because one has been kept back especillay for joe blogs, so as far as stock checker is concerned, it doesnt 'exist' any more because it is not for general sale. it is joe blogs for as long as his reservation lasts (if he doesnt collect it within the given ime, the reservation will cancel and the item will go back into stock), or until he collects it.
if stock checker is showing no stock available, it means exactly that, but it does not mean that there is no stock at all - it could well be that whatever stock the store does have has already been reserved.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0
