I've been in similar cirumstances with a large company employer many years ago that had a 2 year min service rule. It was in the pension booklet, but so is everything else and no-one drew my attention to any of it, not even when leaving at 1 year and 11 months.

They tried to get me to stay but didn't offer that up as a reason(!) and I was effectively unsighted on the issue. So on that occassion, no leaving statement or anything else. In my case it was 100% employers conts, but even so, I lost just shy of 2 years. Strangely I did work for them briefly again years later and made sure I did 2 years min that time, and I received the statement etc when I left; but I'm not surprised if paperwork and processes don't always work.

It certainly would have been in the booklet - it has long been a disclosure requirement and tended to be covered in clear and accessible terms (unlike some other bits!). But if members don't bother to read any of the information provided, or ask any questions...

There would have been no leaving service statement first time around, since you had no benefits in the scheme.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
