Hello again, I am currently several hundred pounds in credit with Octopus energy. If I left and went to Outfox energy what would happen not being in credit with them as winter approaches. Would they over charge so  I was in credit for all winter ,  hope this makes sense , cheers
You could well be waiting up to 8 weeks for your credit refund from Octopus and will need to start paying Outfox straightaway for their predicted monthly direct debit based on your annual usage figure you give them when you do the switch. I left E.On Next well over 3 weeks ago and still no final bill even though they updated my account with the final meter readings ages ago. I've since had my first bill from my new supplier.
Energy suppliers have up to 8 weeks to issue your final bill.

I left Octopus on 3rd November and was told I would receive my final bill in 10-14 days.

They have up to 6 weeks and 10 working days after that to issue any credit refunds

My mistake. I was confusing final bill date with refund.

Thanks for the replies.  I emailed them explaining I was thinking of joining them from Octopus and got a reply saying the email used wasn't associated with Outfox and to use the mail associated with my accounr :(
I've received a prompt reply from hello@octopus.energy, but that may have been due to being a customer. I've also phoned them and the call was answered without being on hold for ages.
