Why can't I do my banking online via PC?

In 2019, the FCA said:“We have been made aware of instances where consumers have been told by their bank that, for example, they will not be able to shop online or access their account without a smart phone. This is not acceptable.”Some of the new banks are now mobile only, but perhaps the FCA still will not allow the the big banks to insist that their customers have smartphones.0

They aren't mutually exclusive, the basis of any business is providing something that people want because it benefits the business. It's no different to someone doing a job that a business wants because it financially benefits then themselvesChief_of_Staffy said:

Might surprise you to know that most changes are customer driven.UKX69 said:
I think that the ever present tinkering with the technology behind online banking and other institutions cause frustration and resentment. Why, when everything is working pretty well as much as you would like or even got used to, do the gremlins have to fiddle with it? My rant anyway. 😡
Non-legislative changes are driven by financial benefit to the bank, and nothing other. These changes may be contingent upon improvement of service, or they may benefit the customer as a secondary consideration, although many do neither, but they are never driven by customer demand as a primary consideration.

Wandering the streets of a deprived area would not make sense, unless they know that you are a very rich man keeping a low profile. An insecure wireless connection might, in principle, allow malware on another one of your devices to read what you key. I would not lose sleep over it though.Eco_Miser said:GeoffTF said:You are likely to be OK at home, but wireless keyboards introduce potential security risks:A wired connection is safer and more reliable. Most of which don't apply in a single occupancy home.Is someone going to wander the streets looking for an unprotected wireless signal from a keyboard, and then take the necessary steps to keep monitoring it?In Mayfair perhaps, but not round here in the deprived north.1 -
I didn't say they were mutually exclusive. In fact, I specifically said they were not. I said change was never driven by customer demand.Rob5342 said:

So branches getting the boot along with cash and now PCs. Who pays for the expensive mobile phone? Yep, the hapless consumer...0
