3. Just because there is a large market in some form of financial engineering, does not mean it is safe or
cannot go wrong.
4. Remember that "financial engineering" led to the creation of complex structured products such as mortgage-backed securities (MBS) and collateralized debt obligations (CDOs), many rated AAA by credit agencies and perceived as safe by investors and regulators alike. Which gave us the 2008 Global Financial Crisis

Those were created with an intention of hiding bad debts among good ones. Options are not opaque in that way.
