Albermarle. the nearly new cars are all WAV cars adapted for wheelchair access.  The 'normal' motability cars are brand new.
OK I did not know that.
So if you want a used normal car ( and soon if you want a new Beemer or a Merc) you would have to take the mobility benefit payments and organise a lease or purchase yourself.
If you go to Motability site here

    https://www.motability.co.uk/find-a-vehicle

They list ALL the vehicles you can get via the scheme. Which also lists Additional payment required.

If you want anything that Motability do not list, then it is up to you to finance yourself via another provider.
Just be aware that leases tend not to have insurance, servicing etc. Have a large 1st payment & there is no way to get out of the lease early if the car is no longer suitable for you.

Alternatively, if you have some savings/capital, you can just buy a new or used vehicle outright. Then have the mobility benefits paid to your bank account monthly.

It is also possible to buy a ‘nearly new’ car with Motability , presumably at a discount.
However availability will be pretty restricted and may not be possible to get the car you want.
Another possibility is to keep the payments and buy a used car yourself.
    Motability is a lease

the lease is based around a new car

A previous poster already corrected me about used cars, but did say used WAV’s are available on Motability.

The average cost of main dealers servicing a new car over 3 years / 30k miles is £1000
    plus tyres at £100 each
    breakdown cover £150+
    insurance £735 average !
The biggest advantage is a total lack of depreciation (perhaps 60% of a new car cost £30k) - £18k
    Peace of mind - priceless
This is all included / free on Motability AT THE MOMENT

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

I have a car bought new 4.5 years ago.
Probably the first 3 years service did cost about a £1000.
    However no new tyres needed
Breakdown cover was free for first 3 years - now £35 a year.
Insurance has been in the £300 to £400 region ( fully comp, large 2 L sports estate)
Depreciation over the first 3 years was about 15 % ( to be fair it was at the time that second hand prices were very strong due to supply delays with new cars) My timing of purchase could not have been better.

The family also owns a wheelchair accessible vehicle, bought new with cash 5 years ago.
First 3 years dealer service were about £900 in total
No new tyres after 5 years.
Breakdown cover, free with the insurance
Insurance £300 to £400 a year ( specialist cover for WAVs)
Paid £21K for it and similar 5 year old vehicles/mileage on sale from dealers for £19K.
I was a bit surprised by this, but it seems the new price has gone up £10K /nearly 50% in 5 years.
