A question about motability cars

I've just been awarded higher rate mobility allowance and am going to use it to get a car.  I've decided on an automatic fabia.

My question is - do I have to shop around with different dealers in order to get the best price or is it the same price no matter where you get it from because it is government regulated?

Thanks in advance.

I understand that there will be only small differences, if any.
For example if a car requires an advance payment, a dealer may tweak that as an incentive to buy from them .
Maybe other small perks may be offered.

Of course if you opt to keep the payments and buy/lease a car yourself, then you can shop around like any car buyer. In this case though you have to pay your own insurance, servicing costs etc.

The price is fixed. To the limit of you mobility payment each month.
Only thing is some dealers may reduce the AP (Advance Payment).

Do make sure you test drive & that the car suits you needs not only now but for the next 3 years. Returning car early will cost (£250 now) But they are clamping down on returns & can remove your right to a car if you do it too often.

If you already have a car that suits your needs. Do cost out if it is worthwhile losing the £308.20 a month for a new car. That's £3698.40 a year...

The price is fixed by Motabilty. As far as I know the down payment is fixed by Motability. I personally heard of a dealer reducing the down payment.

I have a peugeot e3008. Cost me £250 AP instead of £1400. Same car now is £7k AP!
Dealer done an amazing contribution toward the Advance Payment.

It is also possible to buy a ‘nearly new’ car with Motability , presumably at a discount.
However availability will be pretty restricted and may not be possible to get the car you want.
Another possibility is to keep the payments and buy a used car yourself.

You can negotiate extras - like metallic paint / enhanced stereo !!

Albermarle. the nearly new cars are all WAV cars adapted for wheelchair access.  The 'normal' motability cars are brand new.

OK I did not know that.
So if you want a used normal car ( and soon if you want a new Beemer or a Merc) you would have to take the mobility benefit payments and organise a lease or purchase yourself.

Not soon on luxury cars. As of Wednesday this week.
