Simple flight search engine

Can anyone recommend a flight search that I can choose a destination and see alternative departure airports (from UK) and costs please.
The usual flight searches are like Monty Python's Cheese Emporium:
"Hello, I'd like a flight to X"
"Where from and what dates?"
"From Y and on this date"
"Sorry, not available"
"How about this date?"
"Nope"
"Okay, what about from this airport"
"Sorry"
"Do you actually fly to X?"
"Errr....No."
Do you see the illogic of flight search engines? Can anyone put me out of my mysery please.

Best thing I do is look at the Wiki page of the airport I want to go to, and look at the list of destinations, and work from there. Its usually quite accurate.

Is that not what Skyscanner does ? Or am I missing something in what you’re asking ?

As far as I know Skyscanner wont tell me there are flights from Liverpool if I was looking at Manchester to Berlin, for example.Or maybe it does and I forgot.

It does - it has a 'nearby airports' feature that can be selected for either origin or destination, and from a quick search just now it does indeed offer Liverpool flights alongside Manchester to Berlin ones if using this facility.

Likewise it offers a 'whole month' date selection if you wish to get an overview of costs without specifying exact dates, which seemed to be another of OP's beefs.

Google flights to some extent. Enter your destination as the departure and your arrival country as United Kingdom

SkyScanner definitely allows that, just use "UK" as your "From" location. I do that all the time to work out the cheapest airport to fly from.
