Should I agree to the claim being suitable for determination without a hearing?
is it better to go to try and explain/ defend myself?

Hello,
I know there is a lot of information already here but I am struggling to pull together the comments to know how to file a defence against DCBL for parking fines….
went to a local pub in sept 2021 during some covid restrictions, didn’t know you had to know log your registration and didn’t set foot inside the pub as it was table service. Received parking fine, rang the pub they said nip down and we’ll cancel it off our system, unfortunately or stupidly ran over the free 30 mins whilst waiting which resulted in another parking fine… same thing went down to the pub, landlord laughed and said no problem I’ll cancel it. Haven’t heard anything since until July this year, with DCBL threatening to take me to court over two fines in sept 2021!Please can someone help me with the correct wording for a defence because I really do not want to pay these old fines! Thank you

1. It's not a fine
2. read the newbies thread
3. follow the advice and they will discontinue
4. ask the pub to get them to cancel the PCN1 -
Name the private parking company ( I assume that it's a claim by DCB Legal )
Post the Issue date from the top right of the claim form below
Post the date that you have the AOS online on MCOL
Use the template defence by coupon mad in announcements to draft your defence1 -
Is this to do with your other thread? https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6627424/urgent-help-needed-claim-defence-for-dcbl-parking-fine#latest
If so, post your query on it; you don't need to (shouldn't) start a new thread every time you think of a question. Anyway NO, you don't want a hearing "on papers" you do, as you write, want to be able to defend yourself.

Thanks for your help and apologies for the new thread I didn’t realise I could add to my original one. Thanks again0

You need to request a hearing or else they won't discontinue the claim.2

Hi I now have a date for the mediation but now DCBL have my phone number they keep ringing and leaving messages to ask me to contact them. I’m assuming I don’t and leave it until the mediation call? Just checking as could do without paying out £500+0

Ignore them, keep following the advice in the 8 steps in the defence template thread
Please alter your thread title to something more suitable like
ECP, DCB LEGAL defended claim
Or
PARKING EYE, DCB LEGAL defended claim
Or whoever the parking company is1 -
All normal. Ignore them.
And DON'T offer money at Mediation, no matter what the daft mediator says! Maybe a tenner to shut the claimant up but that is it.DO NOT BE BULLIED BY THE MEDIATOR
Phone down after 5 mins max, and don't go setting out your defence like it's a real hearing. Ignore what the Mediation email says.
Read the mediation links in the first 8 steps if you didn't know the above. Hopefully you did and are still confidently following the steps in the Template Defence thread.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

the way i deal with Mediation calls now (and i do this for other people)
"To save our time there is zero offer, please advise the other side, that is this call concluded"
That is then the end of mediation, you dont need to do any more then that and it saves people getting in a possible fluster4
