Poor website layout for attempted log in (main site)

The screenshot shows what the main MSE (not forum) website looks like while trying to log in, using a pretty standard Android tablet

The band that says using mobile app is easier may well be true compared to this, but that isn't really the point

That band stays across the bottom quarter of the screen all the time, and there isn't a visible method to remove it

On trying to log in, putting the cursor in a text entry box pops up the keyboard for typing. With the browser header also visible, the entry boxes disappear. You can just see the words Log in in the screenshot. 

It is just about possible to fill in the boxes by micro scrolling up and down, but this is highly awkward compared to how it could be with a bit of improvement, and may alienate some people from trying

By the band, do you mean the "Continue in the MSE App" bar? If so there is a small cross on the top right of that which you can use to close it. 

The other potential issue is that you are using the tablet in landscape and also weirdly you seem to have the expanded top bar open in the browser, or are using a browser with large header section.

Yes, I do mean that bar, and normally I would expect to be able to close something like that, but there is no X

The browser bar comes down to that size when scrolling or putting the cursor in a text entry box, both of which are necessary to try filling in details to log in

I can just make out an X, black on dark blue. Top right corner.

I had to zoom in a bit to see it properly, mind.

Thanks. I hadn't noticed. Perhaps they could change it to white or yellow

Edit. I closed that and a new one popped up that covered almost the whole screen. That has a more visible X though
