Am I missing part of the conversation? On IOG one gets the cheap rate in the 23:30-05:30 window regardless of whether the car is charging or not, plus whole house usage on the cheap rate whenever Octopus choose to charge the car outside of those hours.born_again said:

Ive picked biggest battery merc and set it to charge 80%. I think most people i know always leave their app set to 100%MWT said:
Hopefully the car you picked has a similar battery capacity, or you'll need to make adjustments when requesting the % to charge.jam6008 said:Ive managed to set it back up again using my charger by just picking different car as suggested earlier. Hope it all works fine now.
You only get cheap rate while car is charging. So pointless selecting a bigger battery, as once battery is full it will stop charging. The missing bit is that those leaving it on 100% for example, do so in the expectation of getting plenty of slots outside the overnight low-rate period and those will of course stop if the car is full. The better point is that in a lot of cases there shouldn't have been any slots outside the overnight period allocated in the first place if the correct percentage had been requested.

Ah ok, that makes sense and I can see why Octopus would see that as abusing the system.MWT said:MattMattMattUK said:

My charging is via the car not a charger so I do not have any option to game it in that way, although I could not charge the car for a week then plug it in and get the discounted rate through to the follow morning. I have seen that happen when I have come back from a long drive and plugged in, the 80% target for 05:30 the following morning means Octopus will charge through the night (standard 10 amp granny), but that would only work once a week or so.0 -
Thanks for your help anyways guys.
Ccustomer services also came back to me and enabled the option to connect via charger on my account.
Used about 30kwh each day for past 2 days. Probably going to be a lot more today.
