Octopus intelligence go tariff issues
Hi
Ive been on this tariff for 3 months now and everything was going well. My hypervolt charger was connected to octopus and I was getting plenty of off peak rate and using around 850-1000kwh electricity in total a month as I do fair bit of driving.
Don't have solar panels, battery unit or heat pumps.
Then as of yesterday things changed and octopus app wouldn't create a schedule for me if car wasn't charging. So once car was fully charged I would get no schedule which hasnt happened before. It would just get stuck.
I tried everything rebooting unplugging car etc. Then finally gave up and decided I will disconnect the link between octopus app and charger and setup everything again from fresh.
Now when I go to setup my EV all I can see is an option to connect via bmw app. There is no option to connect via hypervolt charger like there used to be.
Has octopus changed things?
Can you please help?
Thanks a lot

Octopus have never given off peak rate unless car is charging.
Which app are you using for charging car?
As Octopus app should be showing your charger connected to tariff.
Does Hypervolt charger not have a app to control the charging off the car?Life in the slow lane0 -
I cant see an option in octopus app to connect via charger anymore.
It asks me for car details and charger details.
Then it automatically asks me to log in via bmw interface so it can link via car as opposed to linking via hypervolt charger like it used to do.
I dont use any other apps. Its just hypervolt, octopus and mybmw app.0 -
You need your charger connected in Octopus app. Then control charging via charger app.
DO not connect car, as car API can & frequently break connections. So you have to manually tell hypervolt app time you want car ready & how much % you want to add.

Can you tell the Octopus app you've got an old-model car rather than a BMW? A 24kWh Leaf, perhaps? Something that won't have a vehicle integration?jam6008 said:

That actually does work. It asks me to sign into hypervolt but since it has small battery the number of charging hours I would get would be very less.QrizB said:

Probably need to find an old car with big battery.
Would they see this as a breech if i pick a different car to what I have?0 -

I think mercedes has bigger car options. My car is 80kwh.
Thanks for the help.
Going to initial post, my car charging schedule never used to disappear even if car is fully charged. It only started doing this from yesterday.
When car battery will be full it will just say unable to control car etc. But schedule remained.
Im wondering if octopus has made changes to my account on purpose0 -
Octopus have been sending out emails to people they are believing are abusing the IOGo tariff.
Other option is something is wrong with you charger & it is not being picked up by the Octopus app.
Do you have car connected to charger when trying to set up?
As how would Octopus app know your car?
So disconnect car from charger. Set Octopus to connect to your charger. Then use charger app to charge car, but do not connect car app to charger.Life in the slow lane0 -

Im wondering if octopus has made changes to my account on purposeThis is a change that was made a while ago, not sure why it didn't affect you before, but it was never intended for you to be able to get a schedule that persists beyond your car being full. This was never an intended part of the tariff. If it worked for you before then be happy you were able to benefit from it, but it is completely intended that you should not be able to do it in the future...If you need to connect your EVSE rather than your EV it is still possible if you call CS, but it will still not let you keep a schedule if your car is full and not able to accept a charge.Just set the percentage charge you actually need, do not just request 100% every time to get early/extra slots and all will be good.Octopus are taking steps to deal with the types of exploits that customers using EVSE integrations are getting away with and that is why you can no longer integrate using EVSE without CS contact.
