What to keep and what to go?

Please can you help with what I need to keep and what should get thrown?

Is it still safe to use these timers for lights?
Used to travel and leave these to switch on and off. They are old but only been used carefully and annually.

Are these still used?
Not into smart TVs or streaming yet. In fact it did cross my mind to get another digi recorder !

Just started to clear out the garage for some much needed space but don't want to throw out anything I might have to buy again 😲

Oh and a new USB 2.0 cable.
Think it might have been for a printer, don't know. I don't have a printer now.

I never throw anything away. I've learnt my lesson from when I did, and then down the line, found the perfect use for what I'd disposed of.

The light timers should be fine assuming they still work ( we still use one).
The Scart cables can only be used on older equipment. I would keep at it if it is only one.
If you have an old VCR for example, it will have a Scart connection. However if you have a newer TV it will only have a HDMI connection, so you would need an adaptor.

    I know that Swipe.
Something like 5 weeks after disposal you need one - even if you've stored it for years!

I'm trying to be more ruthless.

Still got the old telly x 2 Albermarle.
So I'll try and squeeze it in.
I read something on here about old timers so thought I should check.

Squeeze 3 boxes into 1.5 so far. 😊
4 led bulbs going to charity, yes I still have enough spares.

Not sure I'd be happy to leave a motorised timer running when away - I imagine it carries a greater risk of overheating on motor failure than a digi one?

I still use one of those motorised timers for my slow cooker when I’m out for the day.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

You can still buy them from reputable retailers, so I presume they must be pretty safe.

Bought one of these a few weeks back - it currently turns on an oil-filled rad in our bedroom for a half-hour before get-up. It's the least I could do, to encourage herself to go out to work, as I lie back and Wordle.
These specific ones are very good - large display, very simple to program, easy to change to/from Summer time, and silent in use. Avoid the ones with small displays - hellish.
It has a 'random' setting, too, if needed. I've seen them even cheaper, espec if bought in pairs.

    Yes, I'm sure they are.
I've never had one completely fail or overheat, but have seen a few become noisy and unreliable.

Ah well, if I ever get to go away again (2yr wait for treatment and struggle to walk) I may treat myself to a new one though I'm in a safer house now . I'll keep the old one in case.

Like the idea for the slow cooker. Maybe the panel heater which I've kept.

Right off to open some more boxes 😕
