eBay - eCollection Point Refused

Hi,

Can someone help me with this.

Item sold on eBay. It was to an Esso collection point. Item posted on Monday via RM Tracked 48.

Buyer messages me today and said "the collection point no longer exists", can you send another item to my home address as I need it urgently.

I've checked the tracking and it says the below. How long before it comes back to me? Does collection missed mean they don't do collections anymore?

The buyer has sent me 5 messages saying she wants the item urgently and I need to post out tomorrow. It was something I had lying around at home. I don't have another one.

Do I sit and wait for it to be returned to me? Is eBay at fault here for advertising an ecollection point which does not exist?

Any help would be much appreciated. Happy Halloween!

Was this simple delivery? Chances are the buyer has chosen collect in store and chosen the closest location on the list. So yes, ebay's list should be up to date.
Not sure how quickly royal mail will return to sender but probably about 3 days at least. Once you have it back you should not resend it to a different address as that is asking for an INR claim, say you will refund and buyer can buy again and choose 'home delivery' or an alternative collection point. Don't ever post to a different address to that supplied by ebay.
If it wasn't simple delivery was the postage bought through ebay and the carrier as specified in the purchase? Perhaps the collection point can't accept royal mail but does accept other couriers?

I can't remember about simple delivery. I purchased the RM Tracked 48 at the Post Office, and the buyer had selected collect in store and the location when they purchased.

It can take a while to be returned to you. I had a faulty item I sent back to a business seller which couldn’t be delivered as the address apparently didn’t exist.  It took over 3 weeks to get back to me.  If you’ve sent an item you only have one of,  you just have a tell the buyer and refund her then relist when it’s returned.

In that case all you can do is wait for it to come back to you, buyer then gets a refund by opening an INR and you can relist it. As has been said already, do not just re send it to a different address, it must be re bought.

It's a shame it wasn't a simple delivery item as that wouldn't have cost you postage, as this was a custom postage item it means buyer will get a full refund of the original amount , and you have lost out on the original postage cost.

Incidentally, buyer chooses the location, it is not your fault, or the fault of ebay that this has happened - it means the location has not updated their position re parcels. This does happen, a shop or location will just stop taking parcels - and forget to do all the follow through paperwork. Sometimes for couriers their system is at fault, Inpost are poor at that- I had a locker at the end of my road which was removed about 30 months or so ago, it still showed up as available for drop off or collection on Inpost for several months!

It's very unusual these days for an ebay private seller to buy their own parcel postage, it's usually arranged through ebay. I have a couple of items which have been listed for twelve months which are listed as yodel but new listings wouldn't allow that. Was it listed as sent by royal mail tracked 48 service? And was it labelled exactly like the address given on the eBay transaction? What was the item value?

That was my thought, it might have been a large letter , as then SD might be optional, or possibly OP is a business seller. I agree though it’s rare for a parcel from a private seller to be custom postage, although I did have one last month which I assumed was a glitch!

My concern is that the sender might not have understood simple delivery and may have just written the address on an envelope without the collection code. Also the ebay tracking might not reflect royal mail's tracking. It would seem quite plausible that ebay will reverse the transaction.
