Claiming for unsafe accommodation during flight delay iberia

Hi, I recently flew to fuerteventura from Heathrow via madrid. My first flight was delayed and i missed the connection. (No refreshment vouchers were offered or explanations given for the over 3 hour delay) I had the aena hidden disabilities badge as I suffer from ptsd, which I disclosed to the iberia rep at Madrid. She reassured me they would send me to a 4 star hotel where I would get a hot meal (despite it being after 11pm), a breakfast buffet, and a free shuttle for my 11.25 am flight.
On arrival at this building that looked like a prison, I was given a paper bag containing a sandwich, water and fruit, and informed that there were no shuttles between 7.25am and 11 am. I was then directed to the lifts and had to find my room through a maze of corridors. It turned out there were several sets of lifts. Only one takes you to the official reception. The others lead to a courtyard with a locked gate to keep the asylum seekers in. There were lone men smoking god knows what. I was terrified.
After a sleepless night I braved the breakfast buffet in a concrete hanger. As soon as any food came out it was pounced on by the homeless people living there. To send anyone there, let alone a solo female with ptsd is unforgiveable, what can i claim for the traumatic experience?

Sounds like a horrible experience, but I can't see how you can get compensation for the hotel stay.

Did you make the hotel aware of your disability?

How late were you arriving at your final destination? And are you aware of your rights related to that?

In future, know your rights. Last year we had a similar situation, but were put up at a hotel in Heathrow. The dinner we (and dozens of others) were directed to was what I can only describe as slop - a buffet style setup in a large area at the back of the main hotel restaurant. We declined and ordered from the restaurant menu, and our expense claim to BA was accepted and repaid in full.
