Okay, have had the mediation, and interestingly DCB Legal offered to reduce the 'penalty' by 13% straightaway, and then a further 23% after they listened to some of my concerns regarding their pursuing of the PCN. So there is a wait of some 6 to 8 months before the case is heard.

Am I allowed to use some of the statements (admissions) DCB legal made (in the mediation) in my defence, if this case comes to court?

Your defence was filed with the CNBC in Northampton, not a court ( no court has been allocated yet. )

The N180 DQ document stage goes to DCB LEGAL as well as the CNBC

In several months time you will be required to submit your WS + Exhibits bundle to DCB LEGAL as well as the allocated civil court

When I'm allowed to drive again, I am planning to take a day trip with some traffic cones to block the layby and see how long it takes someone to come and move them. :)

I now have a court hearing date, set in late August 2026, not at my local court in Watford but in London!

Also had an email from DCBLegal stating, without prejudice, that their client is prepared to make an offer to settle before court hearing. My feeling is that i should ignore this email or should I write to say that they haven't got a leg to stand on , as no contract was formed.

Also is someone able to direct me to writing a word statement, please. Thanks in advance.

You should also check the other 2 deadlines as well as the hearing date , namely

The Hearing fee deadline date

The WS Deadline too

Phone the court AFTER the hearing fee deadline date to see if its been paid by the claimant

Keep checking your inbox and spam folders for their N279 discontinuation document too

Also study post 2 in the newbies sticky thread in announcements near the top of the forum, regarding your WS bundle

Presumably the WS deadline would be two weeks after 29 July 2026?

The WS deadline is usually written on page 2 of the Notice of Allocation or if no date it will state "no later than 24 days before the date of hearing". Is it a virtual hearing or a "turn up in person"?

If you are happy with the court that has been selected for you, do nothing; but if you want Watford County Court send an email to the court that has been picked and ask them to correct their error.
