Hi Team MSE,
I have question relating to Chargeback and Section 75.
I had ordered two car tyres online and recieved confirmation via email confirming my selection (product and tyre size).
I have question relating to Chargeback and Section 75.
I had ordered two car tyres online and recieved confirmation via email confirming my selection (product and tyre size).
On the the day of fitting, once the tyres had been fitted and payment taken, I went to inspect the tyres whilst the car was still on site and noticed incorrect specification of tyres had been fitted - higher load and XL
I addressed this with the stand in manager who did take my key back for a brief moment to change the tyres back to my old but decided against it due to the time.

This would have been captured on internal CCTV
As it was now past the close of business hours, I was told that head office would need to be contacted the next working day to find out why the incorrect tyres had been sent?
I was subsequently sent away with the incorrect tyres fitted to my vehicle.
22/10 - Tyres ordered
I was subsequently sent away with the incorrect tyres fitted to my vehicle.
22/10 - Tyres ordered
23/10 - Tyres fitted and rejected on site
- I sent an email to HiQ Head Office
24/10 - Called garage who said a ticket had been raised and I would be contacted on 27/10 - no contact
- I emailed the branch later to document our discussion and to have a chain on comms
27/10 - Emailed Goodyear Tyres who I believe own HiQ
I have so far still had no contact from the garage or head office to address and make right this issue.
XL (Extra Load) tires are stiffer and harder than standard load (SL) tires due to a reinforced internal structure, and has made the ride uncomfortable.
I payed the sum with credit card, and contacted my bank on 25/11 who said to wait for a response until 08/12 and they would initiate a chargeback.

Any further guidance?

Why the duplicate thread?0

I've mistakenly copied and posted the entire post, rather than pinpointing my discussion on 'chargeback' in the appropriate (Credit Cards) forum.swingaloo said:Why the duplicate thread?0 -
And as asked on your other thread, are you continuimg to use the tyres?
You are either rejecting the goods and not using them.....or not.1 -

So do you think that the correct thing to do, was to not drive the car and claim for a hire car?0 -

So do you think that the correct thing to do, was to not drive the car and claim for a hire car?Not at all. Mitigate losses by replacing the tyres and chargeback for the cost of the incorrect tyres. By continuing to drive the car it could be construed that they have accepted the "alternative" tyres that were supplied.I have found though that XL tyres are generally far superior to SL tyres and pro road tests have found any negative factors are generally unnoticeable to the human senses.

I take it that the dates are wrong?Life in the slow lane0 -
Aren't the XL tyres generally better and last longer than the SL tyres?
If the OP was only charged for SL tyres, this seems like a win.1 -
But they are claiming they are making the car uncomfortable to drive... more likely to be psychological than real but the placebo affect is realGrumpy_chap said:Aren't the XL tyres generally better and last longer than the SL tyres?

Plus the question of checking the pressure has been asked many times and left unansweredMyRealNameToo said:

The first statement makes the second one incorrect. You could have had your original tyres re-fitted but you chose not to because you did not want to wait. So you have chosen to use the tyres and, by the sounds of it, continue to do so. Your expectations here do not seem realistic.BraveHeart said:I was subsequently sent away with the incorrect tyres fitted to my vehicle.0
