Sainsbury spending points in store - changes now swipe card?

I’m not sure if I’m understanding the update that flashed up on my nectar app (and then closed and I can’t find it again).
It seems to spend nectar points in store ie for money off shopping you will now have to physically swipe your nectar card down the side of the till. Whereas to get points you just scan a qr code!
The problem is I put my nectar card in my apple wallet and long ago lost the actual hard card.
I have over £150 of points and I have no interest in using it for anything other than in store.
I’ve looked on the Sainsbury site but it’s still all the old info.
If the changes are true it seems incredible backwards step as can no longer spend purely digitally. So maybe I’ve misunderstood??

There's information on the Nectar app.
Specifically it says that "Your QR code works just like your barcode did before. Scan it at the till to collect and spend points" [my bold].
Spending with the physical card requires a swipe.
You can also request a replacement card (having reported the old one lost) on the app.1 -
You can still use the app to spend points. The message you saw relates purely to how the physical card is used and doesn’t mean that you can’t still spend things digitally. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -
Suggestion re Nectar points.
Get them spent.
There are still reports of people's accounts being emptied even with the recently added "spend switch" on the app.
And there's no guarantee that the points won't be devalued, as Boots and Tesco did with their schemes.
With the ending of Sainsburys Xmas double (treble?) up promotion a couple of years ago there's really no reason to hoard them.6 -
Thanks everyone. Guess I am going blind, should’ve looked harder before panicking.Good idea to spend points. I was trying to save for Xmas but may run them down sooner!Saving for Christmas 2023 - £1 a day: #16. £90/£365

For information, I used a few points in store yesterday and, for the first time, received an email to check if it was me that used them. Seems like a new thing because of the points being taken by others.2

I thought the email notification was fairly clear on the changes, screenshots of the email are below.

Mine only arrived this morning, so after the event. 🤔GlasgowExpat2 said:I didn’t get an email0 -
same here - as per usual, I only had my Nectar key fob on me at the self service checkout, which apparently doesn't work for spending... also found out that Nectar don't do replacement key fobs anymore... was advised to go a normal checkout - though you don't get to the nectar stage before you've scanned all your shopping, so not great advice at that time... got the app on the phone, but wifi is very flaky in our local store, so will have to go back to using the full card.maman said:
