What were the other two or three Quotes you have obtained coming in at?

Combi= spawn of the devil in my opinion.  Unvented HW cylinder and system boiler is the way to go.

Have you considered Air to Water ASHP and the Grants for installation of one?

I’m not a fan of combi boilers.  They seem more complex as not as reliable.  As stated above, get 3 quotes including from your local installers (not big names like British Gas).  Look for a warranty of at least 10 years.

£2800 and £2,900.  The reviews of the £3,200 are exceptional though.

If you want a simple, efficient combi boiler, have a look at the Intergas HRE and Xclusive boilers. They don't have a diverter valve to go wrong.

In my experiance, systems with stored hot water are just as unreliable as combi boilers, due to valve motor heads wearing out. Cheapers for the DIY'er to fix though
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Would you consider using a Worcester Bosch certified engineer?

Even though the boiler was working fine I did have a problem with WB not honouring their warranty due to a part which was not installed (hence the above). After 12 months,  I managed to get this resolve  (via small claims)
    WB's email : technical-advice@uk.bosch.com
You are recommending WB even though you had to take them to court to get resolution of an issue?

The Worcester 4000 30kW combi boiler is £1417 inc vat. We've recently installed an external oil Worcester heat slave. But purchased the Boiler ourselves and had a local engineer fit it. Saved £700 by purchasing the boiler ourselves.

If you're getting a Worcester 4000, I'd strongly recommend also getting the Bosch EasyControl Smart thermostat with weather compensation. You'll get maximum efficiency from load compensation, modulation and weather compensation.

If your fitter looks clueless when you ask about weather compensating the Worcester 4000, I'd look elsewhere.

NB to get the Worcester guarantee the system will need to be power flushed and a magnetic filter (i.e Fernox TF1 Total Filter) fitted, so budget for this.
