EON next drive smart V5.2 tariff

  • Based on my experience so far (on V5.1), don’t expect much charging to take place outside of the off peak hours. Although to be fair we don’t do many miles generally so the car can almost always be recharged fully (or to 80%) within a few hours.

We have a Zappi and I removed the charge schedules in the Myenergi (Zappi) app, in the Eon Next Connect app you set to Schedule and what % charge you need and by what time (4am or later). Then you just plug in and the app generates a charge schedule automatically based on your requirements.

Hope this helps, any further questions just ask.
  • Doesn't that suggest its controlling your charger or have you had to integrate your car?

Most comments I've read state E.ON don't yet have any charger integration, which is a shame as that would be ideal.

Yes you link the car when you first start using the app, so the app must just tell the car to start charging.

I did have an issue with the app a couple of weeks ago where it kept going onto Boost mode in peak hours so I deleted and reinstalled and it’s been ok since.
  • Ok thanks, that makes sense. The car integrations can often be unreliable, I have seen that with OVO, but it very much depends on the make of car. But charger integration (particularly Hypervolt) generally seem stable. Hopefully E.ON will support that at some point.

Once I switch over I'll test with my car integration.

Did you get anywhere with the on peak smart charging rates?
I work shifts so the only reason I switched to this tariff was due to the ability to smart charge for 6.5p per kwh 24/7 as advertised.

My tariff rates on the eon next app don't mention the cheaper rates available during the on peak times.
I can only set the smart charging via the eon next app to complete between 4am and 11:45 am.
I use BMW, ohme and now eon next app coming off ovo since they doubled their price.
